I can't read the article, but saw this news scrolling this morning and this was the first place I was able to find a link when I searched for it.
Can't read it either but wonder if this is the "Miller" replacement (as much as is possible to replace such a dynamic player)?

I first read about him about a month ago and wondered if we wouldn't be attractive because of the success of Miller.

I do think Sam Walters is going to surprise a lot of people with his abilities; both shooting and length. Obviously not saying he's a Miller clone but he has similar size and intangibles.

In the Bediako is staying in the draft thread I believe it also covers that JQ is probably coming back.
Nate Oats was interviewed yesterday at the SEC Coaches meeting. He commented about being pleased with Sears’ decision to come back and at the end stated “he expected JQ to return as well”.

The top 4 on the uncommitted transfers list look just like what we need.

EDIT: Now I'm looking at 3pt %'s and maybe they're not all that we need afterall.

3 point % is a hard thing to figure out.

Case in point: JQ shoots lights out from 3 his first year and then the next he's cold almost all year long. Think he went from the 40's to 20's in %s.

Also, you'd almost need a video (which I'm sure CNO has) of these guys and the type of 3's they were taking.

The one good thing about CNO's system is you get a lot of uncontested looks from 3.

I will take a senior in Grant Nelson all day long that almost averaged a double double last year. That would be a huge pick up. Sam Walters will eventually be good but he is not ready for the SEC. Needs time to add weight and strength.

Don't disagree, but you do remember how slender Miller was? Started the season with some pretty weak moments in his dribble drive game, but it didn't take him long to adjust despite his slender frame.

I would agree that more to playing than just body type, size, strength, etc. but Brandon Miller is on another planet from Sam Walters. He is most likely the number 2 pick in the NBA draft.

Of course! Just making a reference to their general size and body type.

Miller is a rarity.

I brought Walters up in the context of he's going to be better than some people think (IMO) but obviously not a replacement for Miller.

I'd rather have them both. It's not an either/or situation. Can't tell if you're implying it is.

I was not implying that with my comment. Walters is good and will be really good but not right away. Nelson would be a huge pickup because we need guys who can play now with the loss of Clowney and Bediako.
I disagree with this about Walters. 1) Walters is going to be on campus this week, the strength staff will get a hold of him (look what they did with Chuck and his weight this past year) 2) Walters is a wing, he isn’t going to be asked to bang in the post. He will be a perimeter player for us. Y’all are going to be surprised with how good Walters is.

Also, from what I’ve been told, we are in GREAT shape with Grant Nelson. This has been my favorite player in the portal since the beginning. He is 100% Noah Clowney’s replacement. His skill set is PERFECT for our system.

Also, please trust our coaching staff. The Grant Nelson thing has been brewing for a bit. Just because it isn’t public doesn’t mean something isn’t going to happen. You guys are going to like the new additions.

Finally, we will have a new assistant coach soon now that it is almost June. That’s all I can say there.
