Missing Titanic sub may have 70 hours of oxygen leftI refuse to click on tabloid/clickbait websites...
My wife told me that if I had ever had the slightest idea of going on that dive, we would be having one of our conversations where she does the talking and I do the listening.Another segment on the story:
I hope she's not saying she'd let you go - but she would stay behind! My wife told me that if I had ever had the slightest idea of going on that dive, we would be having one of our conversations where she does the talking and I do the listening.
Wow, that is crazy. That deep if a window cracked, I would imagine heads implode and you probably never even know what happened.![]()

Certainly if the pressure hull failed at that depth, that would be it. If they're stuck on the bottom, they had about 70 hours of oxygen. The problem there is there aren't very many vessels that can rescue them and those that are may not be close enough. The 5 inhabitants include a pilot, a scientist, and 3 passengers, each of whom paid $250K.
There is no radio or GPS.
It takes 4 hours to make the descent and 4 to make the ascent.
Ocean Gate is the company who operates this venture.

It will be closer to 70 days rather than 70 hours when that vessel reaches the surface.Certainly if the pressure hull failed at that depth, that would be it. The submersible has (or should have) ballast that can surface the vessel. Either this malfunctioned, there was some other catastrophic failure, or they got stuck in the wreck (I haven't seen exactly what the last communication was).If it ever does.
I think I read that communications were cut only two hours into their journey. I doubt they would have had time to reach the wreck by then...The submersible has (or should have) ballast that can surface the vessel. NPR just had an interesting interview with a CBS reporter who'd been on a dive in it. He said that there were seven ways the vessel would surface, even if all on board were unconscious. He seemed to think they were up but not found because the area is covered in 6 ft whitecaps and the vessel is white. The answer I didn't hear was whether or not the vessel would self-oxygenate, if they were surfaced. That would be horrible if they were up and safe and asphyxiated...The submersible has (or should have) ballast that can surface the vessel.
