  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Yeah, if the OL and RB are tipping off pass or run, the DL can just pin their ears back when we tip we are passing (knowing they have a spy on JM) and they can adjust to a mush rush when we are running by clocking running lanes.

This is crazy that this is happening with a CNS team!!!

Most DL can tell what's coming at them from the OL This isn't a new concept. You are taught those things as linemen. You can look at stance, simple things like looking at the knuckles and hand position in the stance, etc....The thing is, in the past the DL just couldn't stop what was coming.

Yep, he pointed out exactly what happened waaaaay too many times during this game, and that's the "A Gap" (interior) getting penetrated shortly after the snap.
I like Wyatt and I think he is fair to JM in this video. We all knew the OL was part of the issue and it's mainly the center and guards that breakdown most of the plays. Wyatt points out when Jalen does step up in the pocket good things happen.

I'm afraid there are plenty of other plays that he doesn't highlight were Jalen DOES NOT step up and that's probably the biggest issue other than the the two INTs where he just literally fails to read the defense.

As Wyatt points out, Brooks is going to be wide open on a deep post route with one on one coverage if JM would have just given it a look but instead, he decides to throw to the side where there are 3 defenders. Total fail!

No doubt, it appeared to be pre-snap decision on Milroe's part to throw there, but unfortunately, his pre-snap read ended up being wrong.

We have a bunch of 4 and 5 star players being coached by 2* and retread coaches. For some reason or reasons CNS has had a problem hiring top notch assistant coaches over the last few years. CNS has won a lot of championships in the past but he had help from some excellent assistant coaches.
Yeah I’m not sure what is going on there exactly. We went from “Saban is so baller with assistants, he has former head coaches as his assistants and analysts” to basically us rehiring hiring dudes who were stopgap hires all the way back in 2007.

I’ve honestly heard this “fact” for years under Saban. Like double digit years I’ve heard, “Well such and such wasn’t successful because the line is tipping off the play based on their stance!”

I honestly have no idea how true that is and how much credence to give it. I kinda think it’s a throwaway line/excuse because like I said, I hear it when we lose a game or don’t win an NC but honestly what are we changing when we do? I don’t think it’s much.

if we dont switch QB's nothing will matter.

The best team in the country will lose 3-4 games minimum with this type of QB play.

Simple as this guys:
The car can have bad tires, bad AC, issues with the exhaust, etc... but none of that matters if the engine doesnt work.

The QB is the engine. and I'd guess our car's tires, ac, and exhaust are still in need of a tune up and I'm sure we'll get tuned up as the season goes... but without the engine of the car working. Doesnt matter how cold our AC blows or the rims we have on our tires.

Im hoping to see a QB change on saturday. If not then i'll be looking forward to basketball season.

Note I didn't say he's starting. Just first team rep.

Granted it was on Facebook, but I've seen a quote attributed to CNS this week of him saying something like "If players are worried about their position they need to play better". I'm assuming he was talking about more than one position but I also assumed it meant the QB position as well.

Other than Smart and Pruit most of CNS's best assistant coaches have been a part of the CNS's retread program for down on their luck coaches. Most notably in this group are Kiffen and Sark.
I wasn't referring to Kiffin and Sark. They were excellent assistants. More like Steele, O'Brien, Marone....

Texas has 2 1st round DT's. Anyone in the country is going to have their handsful with those guys.

The pass protection issues fall on the QB play. Milroe wouldnt climb the pocket. Then he'd scramble out of a good pocket. He didnt get rid of the ball quickly. He is a hard guy to pass protect for.

Also after the 1st quarter, when texas realized we couldnt throw. They were really aggressive in stopping the ground gain.

The OL is going to be improved. The wideouts are a good group, same with RBs, TE's are very good. The QB play is the key to the offense and Milroe needs to change positions or transfer to Syracuse. He'd be good there
Milroe needs to be in this offense as a double threat wildcat qb, not the starting qb. He is fast and can throw the long ball. Use his talent, which does not include starting qb!

While I don’t necessarily think Buchner will start, I will not be surprised if he does.

Some of Coach Saban’s comments this week about “improvement” and “playing those that are performing better”, could be the wiggle room to say “Ty had the better week of practice so we thought we would give him an opportunity”.

I don’t expect it but certainly could see it, especially if Ty got sufficient reps during the week.
