I think this is how all the games will go when we make boneheaded mistakes on 3rd down and don't get off the field. Like the stupid selfish facemask. If 6 has the mental maturity to refrain from chicken fighting, they punt the ball and we likely drive down and score. The Hogs were about to quit. But as it was, it gave them new life, made our defense doubt itself, and the rest of the game was frantic damage control. The hogs are not the kind of team you want to keep pumping up and Jefferson is an "in the moment" player when there's a chance.

The greatest unknown is how much pressure the defense can apply to opposing offenses! That will tell the story against Tennessee, LSU, Auburn and even Kentucky.
We just have to clean up some things on both sides of the ball and stay focused. Coaching is also going to play a crucial roll all season long.

But calling three straight pass plays, going three and out, is not smart. It’s the OCs job to put Milroe in best position to be successful. We were running well. Especially middle to right side. But we had 3, 3 and outs and put our defense in a horrible spot.
Milroe missed wide open receivers multiple times. He hits those we win this game handily.

He needs to lose a bunch of weight. It would help, but I'm afraid he may just not be quick enough to play LT.

I wonder about the competition he played against. I fear he didn't see a lot of speed rushers in HS football in Iowa.
How can he be the best option we have? His 5 stars don't impress me at all. The offense is an inconsistent joke...period.

I'm not really surprised by today's performance. I think the team thought they would beat Arkansas easily.

Then we struggled a little in the 1st quarter. But we rallied in the 2nd quarter and the team went back to the "See? No worries." mentality.

Then we sleep-walked through the 3rd quarter and let them get back in the game in the 4th.

But we found a way to win. It was ugly but it was a win. Lots of coaching opportunities. We can still win out and go to the SECC or we may lose a game or 2 as we play through the remaining SEC games.

My take at this point:
1) the defense is good and will keep us in the game with anyone.
2) JM is very inconsistent and very hot-and-cold. Our offense is basically throw it deep, otherwise try to get into field goal range.
3) our OL is bad. Until we fix that problem, there's not a lot JM can do and CTR is severely handicapped in what he can call and do with our offense.
4) I really dislike the attitude and antics of Burton. CNS needs to get him under control.

Totally agree.

Usually two good things? The fact that it's seemingly not for some fans makes it a weird year indeed.
More like it's head scratching. You would think this was 10 years ago with all the love we're still getting. And we really haven't done anything to merit that. Not a week goes by that I don't hear somebody, be it a Bama fan or media talking head say something about how special this team is and how "as soon as it all comes together, watch out". And I'm like.... anytime they want to bring it all together and wow us fans right out of our shoes will be fine with me

Burton's antics have gotten out of control and I don't understand why it's still happening right in front of Saban and he's not doing anything about it. I get that he's mellowed to an extent, but come on. He should have yanked him to the bench by now. Is CNS really ok with that kind of thing?

I'm watching LSU-Auburn and find myself envious of LSU's OL. Daniels actually has 2 or 3 seconds - often more - to find a receiver or a running lane. Milroe often has a half-second. I don't believe any other QB on the team could do better, and would very likely do worse, given our OL.

Playoffs?!? Playoffs!?!? You’re talkin’ about PLAYOFFS?!?!? (nod to Jim Mora)

Seriously, we’ll need some significant improvement to sniff the playoff, let alone win a game in the playoff.
Agreed, we are not a playoff team right now. But the playoffs are 6 games away so I'd rather be right here were my feet are instead of in one of these other Podunk conferences playing against weak competition looking like Godzilla.

We're talking about an Aubie scrub team in Death Valley on Saturday night.

I hear ya, but I'd bet any UGA fan would be telling you they're very disappointed in their margin of victory over Vandy today. If Georgia is vulnerable then so is everyone.

I'm not willing to say we can't win the rest of them and prove all the doubters wrong.

Heck our 92 championship title team struggled mightily versus La Tech and Southern Miss and then blew the doors off Miami so.... Anything's still possible.
