It’s tough watching this years team. Never knowing when the next sack, interception, dropped pass, no pass, pre-snap penalty, ghost penalty, etc. is going to happen. As painful as it is at this point I have to periodically remind myself this is still a generally young and inexperienced Jekyll and Hyde offense. CNS and the offensive staff are accomplishing more with less than say Snake Oil Jimbo, who should be fired BTW, so if we get to Atlanta this might end up being his best coaching season since arriving in T-Town in 2007. This is a bumpy roller coaster ride of a season but I’m gonna get back in line to ride again and again.

It is hard enough when a team "misses" at either the QB position or one or more spots on the OL. Unfortunately we hit the "jackpot " this season and have missed on both, making it look like a cheetah running with three legs. 😕

Well it's the old which came first kinda thing....What if the line gave #4 enough time to see the field? Truth is we are probably both right.
As a couple of other posters below note, even when he has time he struggles to pull the trigger to pass OR run.

But my point is IF he could pull the trigger faster and had the accuracy on the short passes we could make defenses adjust.

But right now, he can't do those things and we are stuck with "throw long and hope" OR get sacked.

There are lots of plays where he's got plenty of time, with wrs open on quick routes designed to reduce the pressure, but the passes are not being thrown.
Yep

There have been plenty of times Milroe has had PLENTY of time to read the field/check down/throw the ball away and he can't. At least not in this stage of his career.
Yet again!

I don't know how a guy as athletic as Milroe is can be a statue in the pocket. He has no pocket awareness at all. The O line isn't great this year, but Milroe is not helping either. Watching Daniels and Caleb Williams tonight, as bad as he played, it's frustrating because they move around so well and I know Milroe is capable of doing that. He really isn't a scrambling threat because he stands so flat-footed as the play is developing. I noticed this watching the practice videos during fall camp, but even during the games he does it.
It's because he has TERRIBLE FOOTWORK. Go back and watch the position of his feet in the pocket.

One of the passes when he missed a wide open receiver on a 10 yard crossing pattern, his footwork looked like he was straddling a dense in the pocket. His feet are in concrete and he just tries to throw it with "all arm" and no lower body.

It's the same issue of a golfer "flipping" with his hands at impact instead of engaging his lower body and turning. It's why he's widely erratic on the short throws.

I'm not even a QB coach, but if I can see this why can't somebody on our staff???

I don’t get the catastrophizing negativity of some posters.

Any objective observer realized after the TX game that this team was flawed and that IF we have a chance of getting to Atlanta and beyond it would involve a lot of struggles and nail -biting games.

We are 6-1 and control our destiny.

With a team like this one, that’s all we can really hope for.

Just keep winning…even if it’s ugly and nerve-wracking.

Just keep winning Bama!

I bet a three-legged Cheetah is still faster than most animals.

The good news is that I don’t see any team that really scares me. Michigan has played no one of note. They take care of business, but no one has punched back yet.

tOSU is a similar work in progress to us.

I don’t trust any PAC team to make it through unscathed and …

There’s FSU which may be the best, but most of that is because they seem older than some NFL teams

I say let’s tinker-toy our way through Atlanta and see what happens.
I hope you are correct.

I hear ya, but I'd bet any UGA fan would be telling you they're very disappointed in their margin of victory over Vandy today. If Georgia is vulnerable then so is everyone.

I'm not willing to say we can't win the rest of them and prove all the doubters wrong.

Heck our 92 championship title team struggled mightily versus La Tech and Southern Miss and then blew the doors off Miami so.... Anything's still possible.
If anyone remembers, we had a decent little ole’ team that went undefeated in 2009 and won a national championship. There were a “few” talented guys on that team that went on to the NFL. Check the stat line of the UT game that year. We kicked 4 field goals and blocked 2 of theirs to hang on for a 12-10 win. There’s going to be games that you come out flat.

All of the attention in this threads are focused on QB play but no one is really addressing the major issues that caused Arkansas to almost win the game: The defense collapse late in the game.
The Key penalty on TD drive #1. Then the fact that the offense wasn't giving them much of a rest and them having to go back out there so quickly.

You have to think that AR was playing for their lives yesterday.

3-4 is a long way away from 2-5 in terms of a realistic shot at the post-season.

On another note, I like Sam Pittman but I think his days are numbered in Fayetteville.

Could he be another Saban reclamation project?

He lacks the basic fundamental throwing motion to get the ball out and make short accurate catchable throws. Round peg in a square hole.

Arkansas would be stupid to can Pittman. That said, it certainly doesn’t mean they won’t.

And I would take Sam as an Oline coach in a heartbeat. I could be wrong but I think Saban may have made a run at him in the past when our Oline coaching position was open.

You’re looking at a situation where you have an extremely athletic kid who in high school could just sling it and no one tried to teach him to sling it right or he couldn’t grasp the concept because he was so strong he didn’t need to use his lower half. There is a kid on my HS team playing the QB position who got there because he’s athletic but no one has tried to teach him how to do it right. He slings the ball and is all arm, no lower half use, flat-footed with his hips open. I look at him and think he’s never played baseball. And with that said, look at Lamar Jackson. Playing at the highest level of football and he seems to get away with the “all arm” thing a lot. I know the kid on our HS claims he’s like Lamar 🤦🏻‍♂️

You get to that by having coaches that are focused on winning and not player development at early ages. Saw it all the time in baseball. A player whose athleticism covered up terrible fundamentals. Awful footwork, bad throwing motion much of it because the player wasn’t made to “do it right” because you could win with them “as they were”.
