I assume we'll have to forfeit some games to meet those expectationsat least it is an improvement on the multiple, daily threads earlier in the season about how milroe has disappointed us yet again![]()
I'm pleased with his development.at least it is an improvement on the multiple, daily threads earlier in the season about how milroe has disappointed us yet again![]()
Greg was hurtBut here is the thing… Texas was winning and moving the ball when McCoy was in. It took them a quarter and a half for them to find a rhythm with Gilbert. Greg was horrible in that game and one of our TDs was a flat out fluke play. So it’s not a crazy belief that there is a potentially different game if McCoy doesn’t get hurt. Maybe better for Texas maybe worse for them.
I’m saying that we are dismissing something strictly because it makes our championship look lesser. But at the end of the day we are doing the same exact thing with the 2021 Georgia NCG. We have no idea how either game would turn out if they were played out with no injuries. We assume but there are no definitive answers. Yes we pantsed them in the SECCG but Georgia totally adjusted in how they attacked the short passes… we never went away from stupid jet sweeps and long tunnel screens.
My point is Alabama won the 2009 NCG and Georgia won the 2021 NCG. No one outside the losers care about alternative results to those games. It’s time to move on from 2021 and 2022 and hopefully we win it this year where most fans will forget those two years like they mostly forget 2016 and 2018.
Yes, he was, but he also played horribly. Both are true.Greg was hurt
Or if we had just blown out USF by, oh, 30.If you replace Texas with say Purdue and we win by 30, we are sitting in the top 4.
To even compare the two as quarterbacks and equivalent losses is laughable on its face.Greg was hurt
I wasn’t comparing anyone, just pointing out Greg was injured so the play calling was designed to protect him. He couldn’t throw the deep ball.To even compare the two as quarterbacks and equivalent losses is laughable on its face.
One guy was a Heisman Trophy runner-up and then third place finisher who led his team;
the other was a guy who handed off to a Heisman Trophy winner. McElroy was maybe 1/10 as important to his team's ability to win the game on offense as Colt was.
That being, said:
a) 81 is using irony when he makes these points
b) McCoy didn't play defense, and they gave up two 100-yard games in four quarters plus it's hard to see how Malcolm Williams holds onto a pass he dropped just because the QB is different.
IMHO; that result is irrelevant at this point. Only beating a bad Arkansas by 3 has more impact; if any.Or if we had just blown out USF by, oh, 30.
Both impacted the perception of this team significantlyIMHO; that result is irrelevant at this point. Only beating a bad Arkansas by 3 has more impact; if any.
Who was the QB against South Florida... Tyler somebody? Both impacted the perception of this team significantly
The light had not yet come on for JM at that point. Yeah, Buchner was an huge bust but Ty did a serviceable job all things considered. Starting JM that game wouldn’t have been a good deal better IMO.Who was the QB against South Florida... Tyler somebody?
I appreciate that. And I also apologize for my role in this argument. I am glad we will be able to move past this issue moving forward. Before I post again, I owe an apology to @MetaZeus, and place it here now.
A few days ago in response, I stated something that was incorrect regarding specifically where he acquired his response from and I MISTAKENLY bore false witness against him and here in public. As the act was public, my apology needs to be public, and I apologize to you right here and now saying "I am sorry" for accusing you of acquiring the data from a different site.
While it does not materially change the point I made (which will be discussed in other points), the fact remains that I was in the wrong and accused someone of something he did NOT, in fact, do.
And for that, both MetaZeus and the Tidefans board have my public denouement here.
I shall have more to say on the other details in additional posts but do not wish to detract from the point here.
Everyone is dazzled by high octane offenses.IMHO; that result is irrelevant at this point. Only beating a bad Arkansas by 3 has more impact; if any.
What I hate though is that in the old days, we would have had a shot all the way up until the final day. Now, if we don't make top 4 by the first Sunday in December, we are locked out with no chance at a title.Everyone is dazzled by high octane offenses.
It takes football coaches to see what defenses can do.
Not many coaches on this panel to explain, "Yes, Alabama is better than Ohio State (2017) and let us show you why."
That being said...I cannot really say that we should be ranked ahead of ANY team that's ahead of us EXCEPT Oregon. The top five at this point are undefeated, and we lost to Texas (who - yes - moved ahead of us in the SoS argument last week for those citing Sagarin). Based on the so-called "resume" or "body of work" to this point, we should be #7 at best. If we were in the old days of the AP/UPI polls, we would not be higher than 6th right now anyway.
And remember - lotta football left to be played.
I pretty strongly disagree. Milroe would have ate vs USF. You're right he hadn't figured it out yet but I think we would have won by a good bit more with himThe light had not yet come on for JM at that point. Yeah, Buchner was an huge bust but Ty did a serviceable job all things considered. Starting JM that game wouldn’t have been a good deal better IMO.
What you're talking about - the pole vault from #5 to #1 - only happened twice (1977 and 1983) and the fact the SWC doesn't exist any longer prevents that. What I hate though is that in the old days, we would have had a shot all the way up until the final day. Now, if we don't make top 4 by the first Sunday in December, we are locked out with no chance at a title.
I mean. More like causation. He had a broken rib and was taking painkiller shots during the game.Yes, he was, but he also played horribly. Both are true.
Well. Clearly the coaching staff didn’t think soI pretty strongly disagree. Milroe would have ate vs USF. You're right he hadn't figured it out yet but I think we would have won by a good bit more with him
