So if we were to be held out because texas beat us in head-to-head how can anyone say if we beat uga they get in over us when we would have the head-to-head with exact same record and SOS has to be a part of this at some point.

I really don't know how things will settle if we beat Georgia but I have strong feelings about what will happen if we lose to Georgia. Then I think it's:
1.Georgia
2.Michigan
3.Oregon
4. FSU
Georgia would then easily dispatch FSU while Oregon would top Michigan. Then we'd get a final with Dan Lanning vs his previous boss Kirby Smart and Bo Nix with one last chance to beat Georgia, since he failed at Auburn. Georgia would win however getting the 3-peat. I think Bama is the only team capable of beating Georgia.

We will get our chance Saturday to prove it or not.
All I have to say is ...... how can you be one of the best 4 teams and not be a conference champion? A human committee is going to pick the best 4 teams? It should be decided on the field. Conference Champions. The only way to do this is to break away and have another league of the Power 5 and maybe add 3 Medium power conferences and let them decide it on the field of play.
Because of weird intraconference tiebreakers that don’t always put the best teams in the conference championship game. See, 2017, 2011 Alabama, 2016 OSU for example.
I know we're just guessing here but I think UM would beat Oregon by 10+ points. The two most complete teams I've seen this year are UGA and UM.
There is a theory that that’s the answer between choosing between Bama and Texas, is to just put in Georgia. The example used was 2014 picking Ohio St over TCU/Baylor because of a similiar situation. We know that is a garbage take. But some still promote it.
I so agree. How many people would have believed that Oregon, Texas and Washington all teams leaving their conferences for greener pastures would be ahead of Bama right now.

2017 Alabama and 2021 Georgia both won the national championship after not winning the SEC.
I keep hearing an old song from my youth by Bachman Turner Overdrive called "Taking care of business". At the beginning of the year, we didn't take care of business. We started with a new DC, OC and quarterback. So all things considered, Bama has to be the most improved team in college football.

Coach Bryant taught his players to respect the process even if they didn't like the outcome in 1966, but I'm guessing that's just another old fashioned value we can set aside, too.
Michigan would be favored. I'm just going against Michigan because Harbaugh still has a hard time getting wins over top teams ( other than Ohio State). He's 0-2 in playoff games so I have to pick against him until he proves me wrong. Also I'm not sure the Michigan mentality has changed to national championship mode. For example Alabama, and now Georgia have winning a national championship as their goal from the moment training camp opens. Michigan I don't know. I think they may be still stuck in the mode where they think if they beat Ohio State they've had a good season and don't really focus on the bigger goal.

Good question. First, these are administrators so they know how to pivot and change their story or spin the dialogue in a way that fits what I believe is a predetermined agenda or outcome. They have lots of practice at this. Is it because this is the last year of the four team playoff and because of money? I would say unequivocally yes. I disagree with Sankey that four is a good number but I digress. That ship has sailed which is a good thing.
So to answer your question I believe that, in the unlikely (their opinion) event UGA loses they would spin it to fit the predetermined opinion. Would the SEC be left out? Would they put UGA 4th based on their body of work? Will they bump up TOSU? Would they then put in Texas because they beat us head to head? It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall to hear what they have to say and how they would spin it. How each team handles the conference championship games will determine that outcome. The fix is in though on Bama because of where they have been in the polls.
I don’t see how Bama trumps Texas based on their stated comments and the fact that Bama is 8 barring Texas and FSU losing.
Interesting comments from Klatt posted above. He has changed his tune a bit. He says if Bama and the other favorites win, then we have to be in. And therefore Texas has to be in too. Michigan in for sure.

There's a bunch of well-meaning posters here who do the same thing, oblivious to the reality.
Is that what's REALLY happening, though? Are these folks REALLY doing that? Or is it just the expressed reality that ranking teams is an art and not a science? The cynic in me agrees, the optimist thinks it might sometimes be a little bit of both.
The committee LOVED Alabama in 2015, when we had all those Top 30 foes and beat all but one.
And the problem I have with the wax nose of SoS is that a team can play a truckload of 7-5 teams and run up the wins tally against mediocre teams while another team might play two of the top four teams in the country on their schedule and go 1-1 and legit be the better team despite a bunch of 3-9 riffraff.
I think you'd get a better clarity on SoS if we cut out all that chaff and considered the four best opponents a team faced:
Alabama - Texas, Ole Miss, LSU, and now UGA (definitely)
Texas - Alabama, Oklahoma, Okie State, Kansas State
Washington - Oregon, Arizona, Oregon State, Oregon
Oregon - Washington, Utah, Oregon State, Washington
Florida State - Louisville, LSU, Clemson, Miami
Michigan - Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, Maryland
Ohio State - Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin
Georgia - Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Missouri
When you do it this way, a completely different picture emerges:
1) Florida State's schedule is OBSCENELY bad.
2) In all honesty, so is Michigan's
By contrast, Alabama has the toughest schedule of these 8 and UGA and Texas are right there just below them while the Pac-12 teams look a little better, and Ohio State looks a little worse but better than the mess Michigan is playing.
Of course, the problem with the Pac-12 is that HALF of the tough foes of the Big Two are each other, so we might have to have a rule you can only count such a team once. Such would hurt.
there's no need in us arguing the 8 "who cares" games with each other. Oregon isn't going to lose to Arkansas, even in Fayetteville, and Alabama isn't going to lose to Purdue.
I did not know what this would show when I began this, but it amazes me how bad FSU's schedule is when you do it this particular way.
Btw - there are no 8 or 9-win teams in the B1G this year, so the gap of the Top Four to the rest of the conference is quite large.
