people say he underperformed and a bust. They did see who was coaching him, right?
He did underperformed but Lincoln Riley's offense makes playing elite defense impossible.

Hes a prototype for Saban at corner and safety and star for that matter. Hes going to have a big competition on his hands when gets here, uts just not an easy secondary to immediately start in, but its great to add the experience and talent, if nothing else.

He will be a 3rd year player. I bet he comes in ready to work.

Overton could grow into a DT. Keon Keeley is big now and talks when he committed was, he could also play hands in the dirt as well. Russaw, Pierre are more OLB/ edge types. Renaud was recruited as an edge guy, but he could grow into a down lineman too.
Eboighe was quoted today at practice on Overton's future role and confirmed what I thought would happen.

" When he gets in the winter conditioning, the summer conditioning -- his body is going to change," Eboigbe said. "His body is going to get bigger, he's going to get stronger.

"He's going to come in and play D-line, so he's going to need to put a little bit more weight on and I feel like he's going to be very successful in the system."

At Texas am, Overton came in at 280 lbs, was asked to lose weight to get down to 260 lbs to play DE. I think going forward, he will be a force inside and playing a position that's more natural for his body frame.

Yeah, a guy who was ever 280 is probably never going to be an edge the way we use them. Hopefully he can put on some good weight.

3 years left to play 2 but i think CNS would like him to play one year because he plays so well he has to go pro next year.
Right. My point is, he has the maturity, experience and hopefully work ethic.

An interesting pick up in the portal. Dude is gigantic.

I'm not sure if he played any at Texas A&M, if not he would have 4 years available so it would be essentially like signing a high school guy who's been in a college level S&C program for a year. So he may not be signing to play immediately but rather to replace the high school Tackles who told us "no".

I think most of our portal signees were also guys we recruited previously.

He redshirted at aTm this year and no we didn't recruit him. But Wolford did recruit him at Kentucky

Not at all a play right away guy but he fills a need. Edwin would have entered a year or two or three to add weight (roughly 40 lbs) this dude already has the size just needs the work on technique. Hes fast for his size too. Will need a few years but he has time.

The staff did this with several guys this year. Ionata and Faga and dre come to mind. They need time to develop but they are more likely to stick around a develop in the portal era instead of getting antsy.

Defense is an afterthought on the Left Coast................now Michigan is accusing Bama of NCAA violations with Jackson at practice...............saying Saban invited him to practice and calling for Saban to be punished
They are incredibly dumb. There is no dead period for players in the portal. He can come to practice and have as much contact with the staff as he wants. Ncaa rules are pretty loose once a player is in the portal, its basically fair game.

I think it's grasping for straws...................they know that, but think Saban should be punished like hairball was because they say it happened before he committed............I think they are mad they didnt get him
