I didn’t think today would be the day. Having to replace a DC at the same time isn’t good. Still, I can’t thank Coach Saban enough, although I’m shocked he’s not retiring on top.
He won the SEC. Had a great coaching year. Over achieved in some ways. I am thankful for all the memories. This season means even more to me now.

I'm shocked, but not shocked at the same time. My best guess is that he probably had another year or two left in him of real desire to coach, but probably got tired of trying to navigate the portal and NIL and it took away a lot of the enjoyment he got from coaching.

Regardless, he did so much for the University, the state, and college football in general. No words will ever be enough to express the gratitude I have for him.

Not totally surprised, he's made comments several times this season about how tired he is. I suspect, as others have said, watching Belichick decline probably played a role and the shifting landscape with the transfer portal, conference expansion, NIL, etc. probably played in as well. That said, we know Saban is generally very calculated with his decisions and I'd be surprised if this came out of nowhere, unless it's related to an acute health condition (hopefully not). I suspect this has been in the works for awhile and if that's the case, I'd be shocked if we don't already have a plan in place.
This...Coach K left at Duke and the successor was pretty much picked...I'm sure there is a plan. Coach Saban wouldnt leave without one. The program means too much.

Dose this mean Tide Pride will be cheaper soon.

I just hope this is a real retirement and he doesn’t end up at some other school in a few years because he was bored at home.

Anyway, what an incredible run. I was born in 78 so I grew up hearing the stories about the Bear. I never thought I’d get to experience anything close to those stories. Saban granted me that dream and in my eyes surpassed the Bear. That could be just because I have experienced this run. Roll Tide, Saban. You will forever be the GOAT in my book.
Not going to happen.

Thank you coach Nick Saban, the GOAT. While I will miss you being the coach at Alabama, I appreciate everything you have done for the University, the community and the young men you coached! You earned your flowers, now go enjoy life outside of football! Roll Tide ALWAYS!

Well the ignorant hillbillies where I live in West Tennessee are dancing in the streets, they've been running their mouths for few years when Saban retired we would go back to just a regular team, coming from people who haven't won anything since 98 and cheated then
