Nick's secret is that he is an elite recruiter. That is, he emphases recruiting every day of the year with his program. We have never had this type of recruiting and we are spoiled to have had it. Now, the next coach would need that emphasis. I don't think Deboer has it. Take a look at UW recruiting rankings. I don't think Norvell would want to step into a post Saban pressure situation in Tuscaloosa since he has freeshoes competing again. Rees has never been a head coach so only Locks would be a real consideration IMHO.

I hope there is no emergency backup needed............I'd gamble on Dabo or Kiffin before Locksley

That's true relative to almost anywhere, though, right? But we're talking keeping up with Texas and Georgia and that won't be easy.

Dabo is getting a hard time, but Clemson wasn't a recruiting powerhouse until he made them into one.

Places like FSU, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Texas, and Alabama, they are the places that consistently brought in top tier recruits.

The issue there is you kind of want to see proof of concept. So if we see Sark at #3 we go well we know he can recruit. That's one reason Lanning stood out, yes he has help from Knight but recruiting well in Oregon is still noteworthy. Norvell is doing alright, not great but in 2024 he's got the 10th ranked class but then again it's FSU. Dabo is 12, which I still contend is pretty good for the state of South Carolina.

But, when you get to Lane at 20, or Washington way down at 36, you have to go we sure that's going to translate? It's not a sure thing, the only guys that seem like sure things have consistently pulled in high ranked classes.

Dabo aint going to use the portal though.................and some have grown weary of his "aw shucks" routine.
There are those in Tuscaloosa who arent fond of him, and nothing says he would leave Clemson

A lot of people have, and if I interviewed him I would ask him what's going on with NIL and the portal at Clemson. I suspect there's a financial aspect to, but no way you'd move forward with Dabo unless he's got a plan for how to use both going forward.

For the record I don't think Saban was really taking full advantage of it the portal either (he loves recruiting and developing players). Lanning is, it's a powerful weapon and coaches have to adjust to it or get passed up.

I dont see Dabo doing it the Bama way..............I see him as a "My way or the highway" kind of person, which is why I'd show him the road
