Who is Saban's replacement?

Josh Pate Show …. It will Sunshine today unless it rains but it could snow unless there is a hurricane… now I don’t know which it will do but I have heard some things mentioned that I cant say for sure but when it happens I can say I told you so… so just keep those clicks coming

I think Alabama would hire Jimbo Fisher before they would hire Dabo. JMO

Why?

Dabo Swinney:
Career Record: 16 Years, 170-43, .798 Win%
Bowl Record: 20 Games, 12-8, .600 Win%
National Championship Record: 2-2
Playoff Record: 2-4 (Made the playoffs 6 times)

Jimbo Fisher:
Career Record: 14 Years, 128-48, .727 Win%
Bowl Record: 10 Games, 8-2, .800 Win%
National Championship Record: 1-0
Playoff Record: 0-1 (Made the playoffs 1 time)

Head-to-head:
Dabo 5 - Jimbo 4

Jimbo left FSU in decline and then was fired at aTm. Dabo has been in decline but not nearly to the same extent. Dabo gets a lot of criticism for being against NIL and the transfer portal but Jimbo embraced it (especially NIL) and that didn't work out so well for him. There is no metric that could reasonably justify Jimbo over Dabo.

Are you talking about Kiffin, or just in general?

Because I'd love to see Kifffin hired, but I'm not sure Byrne will, or can, give him another shot at employment with UA.
Just in general.

So many posters here are taking shots at guys and making comments about their weaknesses - as if there's a perfect coach somewhere out there. And one of these guys being discussed is likely to be named HC at Bama soon, whether they like it or not.

Why do so many people keep using that as a litmus
I think it may get you directionally correct, but I don’t think it is the greatest indicator anymore. Pre NIL/Portal era was completely different.

Dabo is a dork. I don’t like his “fake” personality. I understand he’s won in the past, but really what I’m looking at is his resistance to utilize the NIL and portal to their full potential. He gets hired at Bama and doesn’t change that, he’s going to last 3 years tops.

Because if a program, person, culture etc.... doesn't change and adapt, they come to an end. A historical fact. Dabo is strangling the Clemson program and there is no real future as long as he doesn't learn that fact.

Im not against Kiffin being hired, I’m more against posters who are ignorantly acting like all he did was just party and cheat on his wife.

Kiffin would instantly put us in contention for a national championship but I don’t know how under wraps we could keep his off the field stuff if he is doing the same stuff. Because we barely did it while he was just a coordinator.

Why do so many people keep using that as a litmus? Several coaches out there have NCs, but they are not good candidates for the Bama job. Another good trait to look for in a coach, that goes well with NCs, is integrity. Urban lacks that.
NCs are great but in the new era of CFB, I dont think titles that were won before 2021 carry the same weight. First and foremost the coach has to be good with NIL and the portal. Dabo complains about NIL and the portal and Urban has never dealt with it.

I agree 100% with Wes Neighbors that it will be a rare thing for a school to be able to buy a national championship. The thing that has consistently won championships will continue to win championships, and that is recruiting, player development, relationships, etc. We're in the wild, wild west of NIL but at some point the crazy money is going to end because the people with money is going to realize that they are getting little to no return on their investment.

I readily admit I have no real clue, just opinions. I always thought Mike Stoops was going to be the next great coach. 🤷‍♂️
