No political statements here - take it to Non-Sports board if you have any.

This is about the fact that there is actually going to be a group of what looks like significant people gathering to discuss / make recommendations regarding the state of college sports. Regardless of anything else, I think this is a positive.

Now, getting NCAA / leadership / politicians to agree on anything remotely approaching common sense ... that's another matter entirely!

I don't have much hope for this.

Definitely step in the right direction.

But no matter how much sense they make, this group has to come up with recommendations that will stand up in court — which will likely require a literal act of Congress.

Or maybe an anti-trust exemption (which definitely requires an act of Congress) could be their first recommendation.

Given Congress’s interest thus far —exactly zero — I won’t hold my breath.

The first step for recovery is to admit there is a problem, hopefully they put the brakes on the death spiral in college football.

Remember Baghdad Bob saying there are no American forces in Baghdad whiel video showed American tanks in the background? I can't imagine any one actually admitting there is a problem.

Truth be told it's probably going exactly as planned

A real first step. Failure of the first step is still a first step of the journey! I pray that this is the first step in attempting to save the ONLY sport i have loved (though I like others) since Bart Star was our quarterback. I love my Crimson Tide football and don't want to give up on them nor the sport.
