Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

I’ve taken the attitude with some of these guys that Coach Saban had when he was recruiting Julio Jones. Kenny Bell also sums up my thoughts in his post as it pertains to the ones currently on campus.

If you really don’t want to be there, and are not open minded enough to give CKD and his staff a chance, “don’t let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you” on your way out.

Saban told Julio when he was recruiting him, “we want you at the University of Alabama. But make no mistake about it, we are going to win with you or without you”.

Did I read correctly that since the current players have already started class's at Bama and , if they transfer; they will not be able to participate in spring practice at a new school ?

We need to keep hale, law, and prentice. I think some others will be fine and help build depth but overall I think that is 3 solid starters

If those three stay we'll put up big numbers. Law is the college version of Deebo Samuel and once CKD sees him the sky is the limit for how he is going to be used in the offense.

Here's a question I've not seen an answer to...

for those who are jumping ship (at any school) ... how are their NIL deals affected? Much of the value in NIL accrues from the school to the player. When a player leaves, the NIL that was constructed for him at a particular school that he is now leaving, shouldn't there be financial consequences?

I'm sure there is contract language in there somewhere about this, but if schools are asking fans to buy/contribute to an NIL collective, then - If I'm said contributor - I'm pretty ticked if guys get money from that and then leave for somewhere else. Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

If we lose Bond, I think we can replace him with Germie Bernard if he decides to come with Grubbs. He was going to breakout next season in his system at Washington he has SEC speed and size. He is 1 of 3 guys for sure I watching to see if they leave as they are guys that could come and get lot of action here next season. Parker Brailsford a redshirt freshman center last year another and then Jabber Muhammad a talented cornerback though he lacks some size.

I think any they have should have to be paid back

That’s the truth.

Law was by far the most underutilized WR last year that had legit playmaking ability.

I don’t think we got Jam or Justice enough touches either but all that is about to change.

It depends on the drop/add date. You can withdraw from a school before then and reenroll in another school if you still can. It has to be very close with a lot of places. I know where I work it is the 17th.

I may be completely wrong but I think football may be trending in the same direction as D1 basketball. Michigan was a very experienced team with a lot of older players and that revealed itself in the playoffs. If you’ll look at the past few NCAA men’s basketball tournaments, those same type teams have a lot of success. Yes talent is very important, but a roster full of experienced veterans is as well. I trust that coach will have us ready and competitive each time we take the field. This portal stuff will run its course. RTR

With the incoming class, does anyone know where that puts us, regarding open spots? Am I to read this as, we have 19 spots to immediately fill to be at the max allowance. Including or excluding the current class? Thanks in advance for further explanation.👍:giggle:

We had over 95 at one point and we have had to trim to get to 85. Some left that we did not want to and some left since they were told to look elsewhere. We have to get used to seeing this many or more in the portal moving forward in today's world.

NIL deals cannot require school attendance or team play. There cannot be a requirement of any kind that the player stay or play. At least, that is what the NCAA has published. We have no idea how the actual agreements read.
