Guys, it is a rebuild. Total rebuild. We all knew it, though many had blinders on. Three important things to keep in mind as these kids keep on leaving (there will be more).

* You have a better coaching staff now than you have had in 5 years. Even with Saban on those teams, this staff is flat better.
* You still have a roster capable of winning now, especially given the much better coaching that these kids are going to get.
* No matter how this ends up, you are still Alabama, the greatest football program in the game.

You will bounce back. You always do.

Roll Tide
It’s the long game, we hired a program builder and not worried as much about losing a player that will be around two or three years….maybe if we are lucky.

I think my issue is that my biggest concern about DeBoer is recruiting. So far nothing has impacted that view. I'd love a nice recruiting win. Getting Ryan Williams to recommit would work. Or even getting the Washington CB
I don't believe Williams is coming and the Washington DB will be hard to get ( Texas) I think we get the Washington center

I hope I am. I have been as negative on the issue as anyone here (I hope there's some understanding because my attitude came with the belief it would play out like we're seeing).

I really, really wanted to keep these guys around and let them get a ring. The talent was there, I wanted a Les Miles type of ring for these guys, one last Saban ring.

More than that though I just want to be wrong about this and have some people tired of hearing my cynicism rub it in my face.

My initial impression was clouded by an inaccurate offer list, but there are some reports coming out that the staff was in fact higher on Mack than Sayin. If that's the case, and they were willing to accept the ripple effects of even losing other guys because Sayin left, then I'd say it really needs to pay off and Mack does in fact need to be better.

We'll learn more one way or the other though.

You're not wrong there. I think I usually come off as more negative than I feel, but the Sayin news felt like a guy punch. I've never dealt well with worrying something might happen, warning about it, then experiencing it happen.

Then again I'm trying to talk it out instead of just punching air, heh.
Tell me......................can you do anything about what happens in Tuscaloosa? I know I certainly cant and dont have that kind of power. Let's let the guy coach first before we doom him to Mike Price levels

Perspective - even with all the quitters leaving Bama will have one of the most talented rosters in the country in 2024.

And now that it appears Bama has a coaching staff rather than a recruiting staff, I suspect many of those bemoaning the losses of these money-grabbers will be humming a different tune this fall.

I hate that I've lost respect for some of these men who have shown their true character, but Bama's gonna be fine.

RTR
Alabama won a lot of games just on sheer talent alone. Most of the time it made up for whatever coaching deficiencies we might have had some years, but I would often wonder about this player or that player in respect to whether or not we were able to help him reach his full potential. We have nothing but four and five star talent on our offensive line, but the last three years, they have been wildly inconsistent at best.

I'm saddened by Saban's departure, but very hopeful that we might see a more cohesive team and frankly, perhaps some better coaching (particularly on the offense.)

I was expecting this from Sayin. I think he's been strongly considering backing out from Bama since Saban announced retirement. I think both DeBoer and Saban have talked with him, to get him to stay put, but he chose not to in the end. Oh, well. The coaches can work with and develop who we have. I think we'll be fine with our quarterback room.

Look for saying to Ole Miss, Auburn, probably USC those will be the big checks coming in, also this portal is like being on sanctions it'll take a couple of years, I really hope Haynes is not next, it's just a domino affect right now
I think he'll have his eyes on a comparable program like TOSU (they just hired BOB, unbelievably, as their OC and he recruited JS when he was at Bama).

I checked Sayin's page and saw no offer from Washington. I did search on it hence I saw he got an offer from Washington State.

I'm obviously frustrated, but also incorrect on that aspect.

Even if I'm misreading the situation, I think taking Mack before Sayin declared was terrible optics. It certainly left me with a particular impression, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to react to seeing what I feared would play out, playing out (I specifically brought up Sayin when Mack committed).

I was against NIL. I wanted a better recruiter. Watching the talent Saban assembled get decimated immediately is nightmarish and I think avoidable.

Last time I felt like this was after Shula's ten win season when I stated my thought on him and was given a timeout that didn't end until Shula had coached his way out of a team. It felt like watching a train crash you knew was coming.

I guess I should try to give myself a timeout here. I was adamantly against NIL, I argued with several posters here about it. I warned about Texas, I knew what this would end up as.

Then I was really worried about DeBoer's ability to relate to blue chips and keep them around. It's all coming true, and I can't see the positive because it's the bad things I said would happen. I also warned about Sayin leaving when Mack committed.

I hope I'm wrong, I really really do but so far I haven't been and it's not good.

Edit: I want to make one thing clear despite my frustration. I've never, at any point said DeBoer can't coach. I think he can coach, it's just the talent side of thing where he has issues.
You are overreacting!

If this staff knew Sayin was leaving, you'd think they would have just had Mack hold off knowing how bad this would look.

At first glance to me it seemed correlated, but I'm admittedly in a terrible mood right now so may be there's a better explanation for it. Perhaps Sayin will explain.
Again, do you think it would have looked "better" is AM waited to announce AFTER JS said he was going to transfer? It would look like he's an opportunist to take advantage of the vacuum. I'd much rather have AM announce he was coming because he's got confidence in what Deboer and Grubb plan to do.

If JS is declaring for the portal today, this has been in the works for days. I'm almost certain it had nothing to do with CKD offering AM.

tOSU and BOB!!!
Let that sink in…he’d rather play for BOB…
Again, BOB recruited him and he came to play for CNS.

Don't ya'll get it? JS committed to CNS. AM is committing to CKD and his system.

No disrespect but hide and watch
No need to hide. He hasn't done anything yet and he may turn out to be all that or he could be vaporware. I'm not predicting what will happen with him, I'm just saying there is a long history of guys like this amounting to nothing.

Next year I don't think QB is going to be a problem for us. I have confidence our QB play will be sufficient provided we have adequate blocking, running, and receiver play.

I believe BOL was saying he wanted to stay but we told him we were moving in a different direction. Don't know how much truth there is to that.
That makes NO sense. He's never taken a snap. If JS was last year's starter it would make sense.

I know JS is a 5 Star, but he's never taken a snap at Bama. The staff simply added another QB that they already know about.

Do we not want competition for the QB job???

8 or 9 players since Saban announced retirement is domino affect? I expected as much, if not more.
