Anybody who thinks CKD would tell Sayin we don't want him is willing to believe anything. Might as well join the flat earth club OR the JFK's not dead club OR the moon landing was fake club.

This literally would make ZERO sense! Even if Sayin said something bad about CKD's mother it would make no sense!

Don't think Smart would have made a bit of a difference. IMO, he is a good HC, but one of the more overrated coaches in the country. He has no imagination, what is he going to do now that CNS is gone? Can't ape his adaptations or take advantage of CNS' player or assistant evaluations. (In fact, he's stuck with TRob now - he, he. Mike Bobo - sounds like a late-career CNS hire.) Kirby is as focused and ruthless as Saban, but that's where the comparison ends, IMO. He's gotten a good head start, but his free ride in terms of SEC schedule is now over.

Assuming CKD and staff can figure out a way to stop UGA's power running game, assuming that Bobo/Smart have enough sense to use it, CKD will out-coach CKS probably every time they play. UGA may win, but it will be because of overwhelming talent.

I can't believe the number of fans and analysts who have such high regard for Smart. He's a good coach, but hardly elite. The primary reason for his success is that he trips over 4 HS AAs when he walks out of his back door every morning. If your team can complete the forward pass and get a few stops, he's in trouble.

And Sarkisian is a very good OC, but just a meh HC - his first 8 years 7,6,6,6,4,4,7,5 losses. Then this year. But he will do well with Saban's old staff and the trillions he has at his disposal now that money means more than ever. CKD beat him in each of the last 2 years with less than half of the raw talent.
Just an outside thought, but can you imagine what the pressure on Kirby Smart will be to win the Alabama game next year after all of this? If he doesn't...

I wish Saban had coached another year or two, but certainly understand why he retired. He gave a great interview with Rece Davis.

I have heard that after the loss to Michigan, several players in the individual meetings (which he has each year to talk about goals for next season, etc) were more concerned with re-negotiating their NIL deal than they were with talking about next season's goals. I'm assuming one of those players was Bond. I know players from every team probably do this each year, but I'd bet that Coach had just had enough of it. This, plus everything else he mentioned in Rece Davis interview).
money comes with winning. the NFL is full of "can't miss, Sure fire prospects that teams can't wait to unload at the end of the rookie contract. Justin Fields with Chicago comes to mind. the Bears gave up all that draft capital to move up to snag fields early, you think San Fran is having buyers remorse about drafting that kid from North Dakota State? Yet who is starting at San Fran. ? Mr. Irrelevant. the last player picked in the draft the year he came out.

I’m not sure what to think.
We don’t want Sayin at the Barn, Whoville or the Dawg house. Everything said about him by people who know (because they do this for a living) indicates Sayin would likely be better in 1-2 years than anyone in Bama’s QB room.
Spring game will tell a lot, maybe, but Bama will be down to three Qb’s by first game - maybe (and I hate to say this) two. If Mack should somehow win the starting job, DL and TS are gone. I don’t think JM leaves under any circumstances. But Bama better be looking for a QB in 2025.
Losing somebody like JS will only be mollified if Bama wins; he goes to another team and wins it all, that will really suck.

I believe the quality of the assistant coaches had a lot to do with Bama not meeting the standards of past teams. In the end those hires are the head coach's responsibility.

Same for Sark. What if Day loses to Michigain AGAIN?..

Man just let it go. You’re like every 5th comment with the same post over and over and over
I'm not very inclined to sit by and watch someone get called names based on assumptions that might not be accurate.

We don't know why Sayin left for sure right now. Even JessN was very noncommittal in his post about it.

This much is certain right now. It's not obvious he left for more money. It's not obvious he left for any reason that should cause others to sit in judgement of him.

Having said that, I was too hasty with the initial information I got about the scholarship offer. I don't know how DeBoer feels about Sayin and I should heed my own words on that until something more concrete emerges.

I said before he was hired he couldn't recruit, had no ties to the southeast and this was an issue.

You tell me, why does he not even offer Sayin? Huge QB prospect out of California, DeBoer is an offensive guy with the highest paid OC in Grubb, and they don't even offer Sayin? What is that about? Do you know?

Then, he goes and adds Mack which is now being spun as a well Sayin already said he was leaving move. All I see is Sayin wasn't offered by DeBoer and then DeBoer brings in another QB. That's what I know for a fact.
maybe they know something we don't??

For the record, the two versions of events I posted that people are speculating about are not actually my initial interpretation. My initial impression was more simplistic, they got Mack to create depth but in doing so pushed Sayin out, who saw it as a sign of disrespect. That was just speculation, but so is the idea Sayin said he wanted out. Supposedly some "insiders" claimed Sayin was told the staff prefers Mack but that's also unverified.

Certainly one of those is somewhat accurate, but yes no one knows for sure right now but it was bad optics to accept the Mack commitment prior to Sayin hitting the portal. In the least it lead some people, myself included to draw certain conclusions.

No, but I hold his 30 something ranked incoming recruiting class (worse than his predecessor did) at Washington against him. He wasn't reloading at a sufficient rate.

As to the rest, I do think anything that involves persuading a player to be on your team is an aspect of recruiting. Some are better at it than others. So to me it's kind of elementary to conclude a better persuader will persuade better.

You're right! ALL of the pressure will be on them...
