Question: Border crisis looming, what should be done?

Why do you think the increase is so stark? Also do you think the got aways are increasing at the same level because I do?

It doesn’t negate the numbers, but Why are millions more showing up?
My guess is it’s predominately economic and political hardship, but as climate change gets more extreme, more will migrate north because of that.

Or let’s try this one, they know that an administration friendly to illegal immigration is now in the White House and their first day act was to rescind remain in Mexico.

This is the kind of thing that really should make us all take a a second look. Not sure if the identification of the guy is right or not, but that dude was wild. Not familiar with this source but the video is floating around everywhere.

Why cant we just refer immigrants to their local embassy? Put an asylum judge(s) in the embassy and issue visas to those who qualify. Basically, put the word out you are deported if you didnt visit the embassy in your home country prior to crossing.

Literally, the next 2 paragraphs:

"Without more space in border processing centers, the facilities could get overcrowded, just as they did in 2019, when migrants said they were being held in spaces too small to lie down to sleep.

They could also end up being released onto the street in border cities or bused by Republican governors to cities inside the U.S."

And there is this little tidbit further down:
"The Biden administration has long planned for the lifting of Title 42 by streamlining the asylum process, allowing Border Patrol officers to conduct interviews and quickly deporting migrants."

That tidbit contains a link to this article:
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/im...n-immigration-plan-will-speed-asylum-n1275096

That article talks about how the Biden Admin wants to streamline the immigration process to include
"... plans to help Central Americans considering coming to the U.S. by establishing centers in those countries where would-be emigrants can receive legal information, expanding the number of temporary work visas and reducing the backlog of immigrant visas so that more people have a legal pathway to the U. S., who would otherwise enter illegally."

Why would anybody be against streamlining a process so immigrants can enter the country legally?

MAGA: Build wall, round up and deport everybody, only let white people in
True Conservatives: Build wall, round up and deport everybody, or we'll burn it to the ground.

Those darn nuances ...

Since over 80% appear for their asylum hearing, it's obivious they want to become legal...

That is the sheerest BS, and there was never anything about "remain in Mexico" which was legal...

Funny how some Repubs claim the Bible is what they follow until they start dealing with immigrants.
I’m glad Mary didn’t have to deal with razor wire when she was looking for a manger to deliver her anchor baby.
She was going to a different part of the same region of the same Roman Empire. It was like going from Talladega to Dothan.

Forced birthers claim they are directed by their religion when they oppose abortion…the decision from the Supreme Court must be followed…

But ask them about welcoming non white immigrants…even when the Supreme Court does not rule in their favor,…and it’s a different mindset.

funny how that works.

Talladega and Dothan are in the same state under the same state rule.

Judea was a Roman client state under Roman control but administered by King Herod at the time of Jesus' birth, not a Roman province under direct Roman control.

Alexandria had a large Jewish population, so migration to somewhere near there made sense for a Jew wanting to escape the reach of Herod.

I'm not an expert on the legality of their migration, but suspect that the migration was legal.

I'm also not an expert on all circumstances with Jesus' birth, but at that time his family was submitting to the legal census and the rules about that.

It was later that he and his family fled Judea and Herod's rule, becoming refugees in the process. They could no longer be in their homeland of Judea because it was not safe.

I don't believe we have a good direct analogy in today's landscape for comparison since our systems of governance are so different.
