Gone and forgotten - I had to google it but won't desecrate this fine forum with his pitiful name.
And one of the ways he dodged some of booster tag stuff for UT was the slime ball showed the NCAA he also bought cars and provided cash for players at other schools. His defense was “I’m not a UT slut, I’m a College Football slut. I buy players for many schools, not just UT”.

The very reason CNS left the pros to return to CFB was that you couldn't coach a guy that had all kinds of attitude and various stipulations in his contract.

CFB has now become the NFL...
Well, we don't know that. He said this past season took a lot out of him. If true, then he may have wanted to make his life easier with family. But the new state of college football probably was on his mind.

I’ll never believe that he died from a fall down his steps…as I recall the official determination to be as the cause of his death……..after the initial report (from an officer who was a first responder) stated that it was bloody, violent and grotesque.

He was the kind of dude that was eventually going to be “offed” by someone named Tony Spimoni…and the Memphis Mafia told the Memphis PD to cover it up.

You are confusing the Tennessee booster with Logan Young

Yeah, that was Logan Young. CA was referring to Adams...😎

You are confusing the two. Adams was a vile character and was no doubt behind Young's death.

This is why Saban retired. I think I might retire from college sports as well.
Nah. Saban just recruited #2 class (could have been #1 if not for Georgia last minute flips) and was a few yds away from winning another NC
Age, health, age... Even GOAT cannot overcome that. Nobody can.

I'd be willing to bet the changing landscape of CFB was on his mind a good bit before it was on ours. He called it with the portal but did a helluva job navigating it and turning it to his/our advantage then the NIL debacle magnified the difficulty having to constantly recruit the star players already on the team. Myself, I believe his retirement was driven by many factors but as he stated in his interview with Rece his age was affecting his ability to hire and retain assistant coaches because he could no longer promise how long he'd be around. I think that was the final straw.

But here's the "thing" that doesn't make sense about that, is how volatile the coaching career is, how can anyone (regardless of age) make any promises? LOL! They wanted him to make promises and commitments they couldn't even give him. LOL!

He mentioned that he started asking recruits that question if they asked if he could guarantee that he would be at Alabama for their career- he would answer, will you?

I think that when he was able to vanquish Kirby and UGA in the SEC championship and make it to the playoff the die was cast.

I'm not sure he retires if he doesn't achieve those things.

And I'm happy that he got the chance to go out on top (at least in terms of the SEC and so on).

And it is a legitimate question (from his standpoint). "Can you guarantee me if things don't go your way in your freshman year will you still be here for your sophomore year?"

I think so...and the scene was supposedly like something out of silence of the lambs in terms of the amount of blood on the scene...at least that's what I recall.
From Wikipedia:
On April 11, 2006, Young was found dead in his home in Memphis.[4] Originally thought to be a homicide due to the large amount of blood found throughout the house, local police concluded that Young's death was accidental.[8] This conclusion however is not without controversy. According to Homicide Lt. Joe Scott in a press conference, Young tripped while carrying a salad and soft drink up a set of stairs and hit his head on an iron railing. The fall onto the railing opened a large gash across the top of Young's head, causing him to drop to the floor bleeding profusely. After lying on the floor for some time, Young got up and walked bleeding through several rooms of his house before ending up in his second-floor bedroom. According to Scott, Young walked past several telephones but didn't place an emergency call.

An appeal of the federal conviction on money laundering and conspiracy charges was pending when Young died.[9]

Chip Kelly going to Ohio State now should open the portal for UCLA. I have seen rumors of PJ Fleck the Minnesota head coach as top candidate which could then open that portal. The difference like Michigan is that many players will be stuck and have to wait til next semester even if portal is open before they can work out with new teams but there could be another huge rush from these schools. We now will have coaches gone from Michigan. Boston College, UCLA, and probably one or two more that will have new coaches from when they started the spring semester.

How many scholarship spots do we have left on the roster?
