My daughter in law, Danielle, graduated with her Masters Degree in Biology on Saturday in Cincinnati. My oldest son just completed his Masters in Educational Administration and Superintendents Degree from Salem University. Youngest son ran the Nashville marathon last weekend in Nashville for 3-4th time. His wife has her last chemo treatment on Tuesday, May 14th. Blessed!

Lily graduated from HS magna cum laude over the weekend. It was a great ceremony with speeches of congratulations and inspiration. Very well done.

The best part of the evening was the standing ovation one of Lily's friends, Madison, received. She was nearly murdered a year ago. She was stalked and attacked by an ex-boyfriend. Stabbed 17 times, 2 punctured lungs, spinal cord injury. In a coma for a while. Paralyzed from the chest down. Has started to walk again after lots of physical therapy. Here's an article with videos from the local news.

After the video from the weekend graduation runs, it will roll over to all the coverage in reverse chronological order, including the original news report about the original attack that nearly killed Madison and severely wounded her Mom and a good samaritan.

Incredibly strong young woman.

This is some great news, sad news, but then turns in to great news again. Thank you for sharing this.

It's been a very busy couple of weeks since we got back in-country. Earlier this week we spent a couple of days in Tampa for Lily's orientation to USF. Pretty impressive campus and nursing program they have. Lily, of course, is all geeked up to be moving to the dorms in a month. And mama is very sad. Same as it is everywhere as Fall approaches, I suppose. :(:)

My daughter is the best mom to the best grandsons. She works from home for a major global corporation and is a manager for them. She's the PTA president and does tons of other stuff. The boys are both competitive swimmers, ones a travel soccer player and the other a travel baseball player.

My son is a major in the Marine Corps and is the operations officer in a battalion in one of the Marine Divisions. He's getting married soon and will hopefully add to my grandkid inventory.

I teach high school and have some kids I could brag on and some who I'd like to tell to stay home.

Well done - much to be proud of! Many thanks to your son for his service!

One of my niece's got her degree at USF.
I remember when your niece graduated. Didn't she become a park ranger or something similar?

Izzat their actual mascot? Very cool pic, Bodhi!
Thank you. The mascot is the Rocky the Bull. Didn't realize until just now that they were originally the Golden Brahman.

They seem to be getting serious about their football program. They will break ground on an on-campus stadium in a couple of months.

After his 4th or 5th (of 7) deployments in Afghanistan, my son, a DOD contractor at the time, was telling me about the UAV programs (Drones) he operated. Some of the stuff he was doing in support of our Spec Ops warriors was ... spooky.

I asked him, "How many people are there who do what you do?"
"In the US? Or in the world?"
"Okay ... the world."
He thought for about 15 seconds....
"Six."
😲

Now ... ten years since that conversation ... he's with a team of three-of-those-six building UAVs where the new technology is freakish in its capabilities. And he regularly consults with other companies building similar aircraft.

I couldn't begin to explain what he does, because I don't comprehend it ... and if I did try, it might jeopardize my son's security clearances.

As I've talked about a couple of times, my older daughter started at Notre Dame this fall. She's on the Level 1 AFROTC scholarship so saving us from having to pay the nearly $70K/yr tuition (!!). I've been feeling very discombobulated watching their games and actually wanting them to win (for her sake). It's an out-of-body experience for me.

Since starting, she's made the marching band and the top concert band, and is majoring in Aerospace Engineering and minoring in Russian. She's...pretty busy, but loving it all so far even if she's light on sleep most days. Taking some really difficult classes but for the first two weeks she was going to the library every night and staying until really late so that she could focus on academics and not be distracted by all the other things going on.

She met Riley Leonard after band practice before the first home game when the captains were handing out super nice backpacks like the team has to all the band members and he yelled out "anybody from Alabama?" and she said "My mom's from Foley!" ... He jumped out and was so excited to meet someone with Alabama ties to where he was from and took a cool pic with her.

Told her to enjoy her time and that certainly academics and AFROTC are #1 and 1a but to also enjoy being on an incredibly beautiful campus with some cool traditions (as hard as it is for me to say it!). I think she's starting to find a reasonable balance, but the real check will come as she starts coming into midterms.

Love reading about all of your kids/grandkids and their successes! I always kid my kids that they're lucky they got good genes from me :D Of course I don't mention the other part of the DNA coming from their brilliant Mama :D

@AUDub - big ups from me on how you're handling this. We've always told our kids they could go anywhere they get into ... including Auburn. But if they selected Auburn, there wouldn't be any of OUR money (or their college savings fund) going to pay for any of that :D ... and I'm not kidding on that point and they know it :D

Nothing to handle.

It’s not sports. It’s her education. Bama is a good school.

My youngest started at Georgia Southern this fall, majoring in Choral Music Education. They are one of two freshmen selected for Georgia Southern Chorale, one of the top choral groups in the nation.

The GSU School of Music had their Vocal Arts Gala last week. The whole thing is pretty impressive, but Southern Chorale is at 40:51 and 1:48:00.
