It is being reported these are some of the settlement issues in myriad of antitrust cases versus the NCAA. This is being put before the leadership of the Power 5 conference schools at their meetings this spring.

Looks as though the NCAA finds itself in the proverbial “between a rock and a hard place”. Either settle or run the chance of judgment against you that would surely bankrupt you.

Maybe bankruptcy would be best. Just kill all college athletics and then let these student athletes try and find a way to play their sports.
They are trying their best to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Frankly, I'm to the point of hoping it happens. Kill college athletics and then see how many NIL contracts are out there.

I have come to realize how many people are involved in attempting to profit off of college football. Of late I have been actively deleting all of the Alabama promo sites that show up on my Facebook. Really trying to just get over what used to be!

I have come to see some of both sides of this . There has been this huge pot of money that has been divided up previously by the NCAA, the conferences and the universities. The coaches and their agents have been all about getting a bigger slice of it. Saban, Jimbo and all of the big time coaches got theirs so now the players, parents and agents want their piece of it and that remains fairly small in comparison.

I am personally resentful of the wreck that was great college sports. Just ready to leave it to the younger generation to show up for all of the hoopla and constant promotion that is ESPN and college sports today!

So let’s say the NCAA does go belly up. Think about the trickle down effect it would have. Those networks like ESPN, FOX, CBS etc. that have pretty control viewership via conference media rights without product to sell advertisers? And that would only be a start. It would be the start of chaos.

And that is pretty much what I’m hoping for. With what we are seeing with NIL already, IMO it is time for universities to get out of the development league business for professional sports.

The University of Alabama has benefited greatly from being in the business of developing NFL players. The demise of college football will only hurt.

The networks sign contracts with the conferences, not the ncaa. The ncaa basketball tournament might have to make an adjustment...but it will work itself out.

Bankruptcy would be a gift to the schools and conferences to avoid messy litigation with trying to leave the NCAA. It would allow them to create new associations and rules that contemplate the current real world.

We should just secede from the nzaa just to expedite it ( and mitigate any potential penalties).

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
Withheld from where?

To the best of my knowledge, the money doesn't flow through the ncaa anyways (aside from the Final Four)...does it?
From my understanding, there is some form of revenue sharing between the schools and the NCAA. The NCAA generates revenue and a % is divided out among the schools. Maybe a lot like the conferences pay out a % of their revenue to the individual schools?

I doubt it would amount to much.

I would just quit the ncaa and tell them they are on their own... ;)

This is just dumb. No way I would settle because they will get sued into oblivion on the expectation of settlement. If the NCAA gets a judgment they can't pay, then just bankrupt and dissolve the NCAA. This is what needs to happen anyway to restore some sanity to this mess.

If Im the SEC and Big10, I would threaten a lockout suspend intercollegiate athletics.

The NCAA is just like Washington General's, they never win, but they need to settle and not go to court be because then you are looking at way more billion's and not only will bankrupt the NCAA but some university athletic department as well, just hide and watch
