Question: so when is the appropriate time to panic if you are a Braves fan

yeah, maybe the whole team needed some humble pie. No playoffs. No MVP or other awards. Show them they cannot just mail it in and win a division or make the playoffs. I am fine with not making the post season this year if it means better years 2025 and beyond.
Sale winning the Cy Young would probably be the most we could hope for positively. But going against Wheeler is going to be tough because both guys haven’t won it and sportswriters love Phillies guys.

Right now the Braves are still playoff bound (top WC team in the NL with a 4 game lead), I doubt AA becomes a seller.

I saw a thread on reddit that asked why was baseball so boring this year. The OP said something just feels off across the league and I kind of agree. Some comments proposed that the new playoff format has killed the drive to win since 40% of the teams make the postseason now. There is no need to strive to win 100 games when 80 can get you in the playoffs. So they are willing to rest guys more and not wear everyone out. Plus, since teams that get the first round bye have struggled, comments theorized that maybe teams feel better about getting a WC slot.
Well it was made 100% because they wanted the big market teams all to get in there and they 100% used the Braves 2021 trade deadline to justify it. I mean now there are very few teams that sell because everyone is still in play aside from very few stinkers. These past 2 years the Braves may have gotten a bat or two that they needed but there were too few teams willing to trade because they had hope so late in July. Most trades are negotiated for weeks and don’t just happen in seconds like many think.

Win about as many as you lose and that gets you in the playoffs. Think about that for a minute. Think we’ve minimized the value of the regular season with this new playoff format?
Yep, 84 wins got both the Marlins and Diamondbacks in last year, 6 games over .500. The Marlins finished 3rd in the division, 20 GB the Braves and were still rewarded with a playoff berth. It's ridiculous.

If they are going to continue this format, the should reduce the number of regular season games to around 100, maybe even 80. The whole point of the long season in baseball was to weed out the pretenders. Since they are letting the pretenders in anyway, why continue to grind out 162 games. Just give the players more real days off.
the same thing is going to (is) happening to college football.
Hey, I'm excited. I think most years you are going to see a 2 or 3 loss SEC team in which means Bama is most likely a playoff team every year. I'm a okay with that for now!

I’m not giving up yet. I just don’t do life that way.
If we win the WC and create any kind of momentum going into the Playoffs then we'll maybe have a punchers chance.

It's just hard to get excited right now because we've been so snakebit with injuries and our offense has massively underperformed expectations.

It wouldn't hurt to make a few moves at deadline for another SP and productive Bat too.

I'm more wait and see where we are in Sept.

Maybe in other ways, but the playoff field is still less than 10% of the overall field. I just hate the automatic qualifiers and the way they are deciding the byes.
I hate how they are not reseeding after the first round. The #1 team should always get the lowest ranked first round winner. As it is now, they could end up with the highest ranked first round winner.

Braves signed a 35 year old utility player. Whit Merifield and are moving Nacho Alvarez.

Alvarez has been tearing it up in triple A.
And he's injured.

We lost to a team that had 3 hits…. Snitker you are officially Bob Brenley 2.0.

Yeah we are hurt, but it’s becoming beyond obvious our biggest loss is Ron Washington keeping us out of stupid base running mistakes and our defense having great fundamentals. Snitker has a bunch of clowns out there.
