Players have always "yapped"! Even at Alabama. You just don't know unless the camera is shows you. I don't know why we have this "pious" attitude about the Saban administration Just because you walk on the field "business like" doesn't mean that their isn't any talking on the field. Part of the game is getting into the other guy's head!
Yes, yapping exists in all sports.....but publicly admitting you've got anxiety is....different.

People deal with things differently and mental health is dealt with differently today than it was 20 years ago. I remember when the Atlanta Braves had a shirt they wore every game underneath their jersey that said "Suffer in Silence". With the suicide rate what it is now, things like dealing with your anxiety and how to deal with the pressures of being a college athlete, etc. are talked about amongst the players, coaches, and support staff. IMO, it isn't worth going down a rabbit hole and calling someone soft because they are being open and vulnerable to a mass audience. A real man can hug his daughter and also beat you until you are black and blue in the next breath if you are so deserving.

Nor is more of this 'anxiety' talk.

I'm not too upset about the passion on the field, but this wuss 'anxiety' talk has got to stop. I don't care how you actually feel, drop the weak talk. Your opponents FEED off of this stuff.

Goodness. Keep your weakness to yourself.
More to the point, why in the world do you need to look to the sidelines to stop the option? Just play assignment-sound defense.

I think it's time to get off the recliner and dust off your resume. Bama needs you
Defending the option is not easy, but it is simple from a scheme perspective. It's more of a "I have this guy, you have that guy" philosophy. If a 5th year player like Moore doesn't know his assignment by now, then I don't know what to say.

I'm a teacher of almost two decades and "anxiety" has infiltrated our culture to the point that there is no such thing as "mental toughness" anymore. I believe that there are people that truly suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, but we are creating a generation of mentally soft and weak people that can't handle any adversity. Buck up, put on your Superman Underoos, and attack the problem!

As discussed here and in other threads, the issue is a little deeper than knowing who has who. We were defunct by alignment more than I think anyone would like to admit. That is a schematic issue and not just an assignment one. I get your point but for the sake of us not sounding like "The Legend" on PF, it is best to not make blanket statements. Football tends to lead people to the Kruger Dunning Effect more times than not.

Only time will tell, but I'd note:

1. Bryant wasn't the Bear because he didn't change. In fact, it was his willingness and ability to adapt that made him the coach that he was. In particular, he adapted multiple times in a span that included tremendous changes, both on the field and off.
2. Some of the Bryant blood and guts stuff that some of ya'll romanticize were things the Bryant himself declared as a mistake in his lifetime. Even when the net results were positive, he regretted that there were guys he lost because he failed to understand what they needed at that moment.
3. Sometimes the coldest killers are the ones that smile at you in public.

This is what I was getting at. Yes, there are people suffering from real anxiety disorders and panic attacks and the like. But we throw around now when someone gets anxiety from a boss telling them something they like or something is just too hard and they don't want to learn to do it right.

People don't attack problems anymore....they let the problems attack them.

Stopping the run vs Vandy when we knew it was coming....its math. We never had the numbers in the box to stop them, we were schematically predictable.

You give up runs consistently, you've got to move guys into the box to eliminate that. Their QB wasn't going to consistently hit deep throws....but we never committed to stopping the run.

I just don't understand how you don't make adjustments, we just keep giving up the same things over and over again. That is the definition of insanity.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
Pete Rose probably wouldn't have had an issue with Moores actions. LOL! Say what you want about Rose, but the guy was a gamer and hated losing.
