I have 0 insight, but if these reports are even marginally true I don’t envy CKD. These scenarios are not limited to football or even sports. If you develop a few rotten apples in any organization, even high-performing ones, and you let them flout the rules and standards, the entire structure will collapse. It does not matter if it is a sports team, a manufacturing business, a military unit, a band, a professional practice, a faculty, whatever.

But getting rid of the rotten ones is typically difficult, painful, damaging in the short term, expensive, time-consuing, etc. And, sadly, you almost always lose a few folks you wanted and hoped to keep. They typically end up as competitors.…

Perhaps I should not have been so judgmental with regard to some who departed.
This is completely true. The cancers can corrupt good employees and they don’t even realize it’s happening.

Saban had made his decision to retire even before the season started last year. Family meetings were had right before the season.

So the more I think about USF last year the more I think that was the turning point for Saban hanging it up. It also means CKD probably has his hands full more than we know if the goat himself couldn’t manage it correctly.

I agree, and I would not have expected Hanes either. But, if you look at his play, he has regressed this year. Based off of his performance this year, I can see him being one of the problems. Maybe we should just give his reps to Young? That guy is talented too.
Jam should be getting a lot more touches anyway. I often groan on critical downs when I see Haynes is in there instead of Jam.

Per Rick Karle: AJ McCarron Speaks Out About Milroe

“AJ certainly spoke his mind this week on the McCready & Siskey show when giving his take on Bama QB Jalen Milroe.”

Said AJ McCarron:

“It's hard because I like the kid a lot, and I think he's a good college player- but he's just not the quarterback that he wants to be.

"When have we seen him be accurate?
I've been saying it from the get-go. He hasn't progressed from last year to this year, in any form.

"He still gets way up on his toe, his front toe, throwing.
He locks his front leg out.
He falls back.
He's super over-the-top.

“It reminds me of the way he throws it sometimes- remember when Tyler Watts- they changed his throwing motion back in the day when he got to Alabama?
He threw way over the top?
He does that.
Like, we haven't seen Jalen be accurate.

"He doesn't step up in the pocket.
Watch him.
Just watch him play.
I've watched enough of his game, I've watched enough quarterbacks, played enough ball throughout my lifetime. When he escapes, a lot of times he goes back and to his right, which shows a quarterback that is not comfortable with throwing on the run.

“Because a lot of quarterbacks, if you're comfortable, it doesn't matter.
You're gonna escape left, you're gonna escape right, you're gonna get north in the pocket.
He doesn't get north in the pocket very much at all.
He goes back, tries to stiff-arm guys and ends up going his right.

AJ is 💯 correct.

EDIT: I’m sorry guys…somehow I overlooked where this had already been shared.

This stuff with the 6 is absolutely sickening. Not surprising, but absolutely sickening. I don't even want to watch the games anymore until the group is gone. DeBoer isn't going to sit them.....if he does they'll throw their weight around with the players and cause more problems. They know this....he knows this.

He's going to lose recruits over this as well. He has to nip this now.

I tried watching The Bama Standard again tonight after not for a while....Ragland was on harping on about how fans want to sit Milroe for a bad game or when things go bad. I checked out immediately....they are all still solidly in the Milroe camp.
Here is where the issue is. Danged if you do, danged if you don't. There isn't a solution that doesn't come with landmines. It is up to him to find a solution that limits the negative response but gets him the resolution that leads to getting this program back on track. Ignoring it and waiting for them to leave or graduate is one way to do it but there is no guarantee that it solves anything. Coming in with "guns a blazing" would shake things up but could do more harm than good. IMO he needs to find something in between those two responses but also send a clear message that we are doing things my way and I will not be held hostage by a bunch of 18-23 year olds. As I have said before, he is earning his paycheck with the culture he inherited.

DeBoer should sit Nick Sheridan too after this ridiculous response. I’’m not about “Mickey Mouse” football. If this was part of his “play design” then he needs to drag his rear end to Orlando and work for Malzahn.

Next thing you know, we’ll be running a reverse whirly gig, Statue of Liberty play…

Yep, I remember hearing this "rumor" early last year. I didn't believe it. I really thought he'd coach another 3-5 years.

I don't think this is accurate. His daughter was shocked when he retired.
She may have acted surprised, but I remember her tweeting things that made me think "hmmm" about him and his love for family/grandkids.

IOW, she may have been surprised *WHEN* he retired (the *TIMING* of it), but there's no way she didn't know *IF* he was strongly considering it.

I’d give him another year after a total house cleaning. If you really have to run off half the team for cancer reasons, that buys you time, imo.

I also see this as a “marry one, kill one, sleep with one” kind of a false dilemma. It would be really hard to go 3-9, even with a house cleaning. That would indicate a total loss of the team mentally. Even the worst programs in this conference don’t go 3-9 anymore.
Last year Vandy was 2-10, and Arky was 4-8. There will always be a few bottom feeders because there have to be some teams taking a beating when several teams are whipping tails. I sure hope we are not one of them any time soon. Roll Tide!

What I don’t understand is why two coaching staffs in a row have continued to stick with Milroe, when it’s clearly not working. Just cut your losses and move on.
I'm going to guess it is because the backups are not the saviors that some people seem to think they are and that they believe that Milroe gives us the best chance to win. These guys have high paying gigs that are dependent upon their choices and decisions. If they truly believed that Simpson, Lonergan, or Mack were the best option, I think one of them would be playing. However, like many of you have said, it may be time to roll the dice with one of them to see if one may be a gamer. Who knows? I'm sure they are as frustrated as we are. Well, almost as frustrated! 😁

I tend to agree. I haven't seen enough of the other QBs to make this call. OTOH, I would give the backups (at least QB2) some meaningful reps in the games - even when the outcome is not yet decided. That's the only way to judge what they will do in a game vs practice. Not to mention the fact that the backups will prepare more if they know they're going to log some playing time.

The second half at Vandy would have been the perfect time to give TS a series. It was a home game away from home.

AJ is 💯 correct.
I read this on CBSSports this am and wondering why AJ is the only person that has the brass to speak up on this. This is exactly how each and every game plays out.
I am going to go out on a limb and say we are in for another year of Milroe. He has to know he has no chance of getting drafted in any league next year and he is going to keep riding the NIL hype train that he is on.

I think someone posted yesterday that GMac said a few things too about JM's lack of progress.

I sincerely hope not. I want to see what CKD's full offense looks like with a QB who can run it, not another year of bastardizing the offense to meet the limitations of the QB.

JessN posted yesterday that he thinks JM will either be in the NFL OR transfer next year. I hope he's right because I can't imagine another year of this drama hijacking the team/coaches.

I love all our former players that speak out…AJ, Ingram, Maze, Marlon Humphrey, etc….even if I don’t always agree with with everything they say. It shows they care about the program.

They KNOW what it takes, and what the Alabama Standard is.
