Too bad he is not 8-10 years younger he might have been a better choice. Oh well, you dance with who you brung.
If he were 10 years younger he'd be the perfect choice to hire if and when DeBoer flames out or leaves. I hate he isn't. I don't think a Saban clone / Saban lite would have worked directly after Saban. But, maybe it would have? Anyway...

NIL has only made the canyon between coaching at Indiana versus coaching at Alabama wider.

Coaching at Indiana is still priority one. Coaching at Alabama is second, maybe even third behind keeping people happy.

CKD may decide this isn't for him but I doubt he flames out. You can tell he's gotten his feet under him and now starting to build. He crawled all over one of the assistant coaches last night for not getting the play off on time. He's developing that Saban edge right before our eyes. We physically whipped LSU last night.

I am cautiously optimistic.
It was a great performance by the team. Congrats, lads. Well done.
It was a great rushing performance against the 3rd worst rushing defense in the SEC.
I absolutely love the commitment to running the ball. Love it. Let's see if this Bama team can run the ball consistently against better rushing defenses.

He's the closest thing to Nick Saban still coaching, even more so than Kirby. Listen to his press conferences and interviews. Close your eyes and at points, you think it is Saban talking.
Coach Cignetti is from the same area, and went to school at West Virginia.

Buyers remorse? I think the idea was someone different from Saban.
I do recall having the impression that Mike DuBose was hired, at least partly because he had "ties to Coach Bryant."
That did not work out so well for Bama or for Coach DuBose.
I think the post-Saban hire was "let's get the best candidate whether he has ties to Coach Saban or not." We are not going to get another Coach Saban.
I hope Coach BeDoer has similar levels of success, but I do not expect him to conduct himself like Coach Saban. I expect Coach DeBoer to coach like Coach DeBoer.

As an aside. During the game Herbie said (as he did when Saban was hired) it's not IF DeBoer wins big at Bama, but WHEN he starts winning big at Bama. He then mentioned our current #1 reruiting class.
I am confident he will do just that..............dont see him going anywhere soon, despite people like Stephen Smith wanting "someone" else at Bama
