I never thought they were about to go on a "Nick Saban/Alabama" 16 year dynasty run. They had their 15 minutes of fame and appears to me they have come back down to earth. Isn't that your thoughts @92tide? They've returned to the mean?

Largely agreed mostly because it's rare to have a Nick Saban so it just seemed unlikely it would happen that quickly.

But the problem is those fans I think expect a Nick Saban run

i've always thought there was a chance he'd pull a dabo. i seriously think they will drop one or both of their upcoming (non-umass) games.

Funny how he loses control of the locker when they have to play real teams more than once or twice per season.

Kirby called what he was doing "stupid"....publicly. So it didn't pass the smell test of his coach and Kirby's driving record for tolerance of anything is pretty loose. Horrible look nonetheless

Agreed. It's a bad look. Your own fans won't like it. But, Kirby pushed a player from the other side. If Pope had pushed the guy instead of congratulating him, I guess that would have been fine.

It wasn’t an Ole Miss player was it? It was friends in the stands wearing jerseys! Kirby has some Muschamp anger issues. Calling your player an idiot in public is poor leadership. I’d be more concerned about my QB sitting on the sideline smiling after turning the ball over like he did on Saturday!

Yes, I was thinking about that scene with Beck ever since this thread was posted. It really makes me wonder if in this NIL era winning has become only secondary. I think if players were asked whether winning a NC or receiving NIL money is more important I think I know the answer.

Story is the kid ran into a bunch of close friends he hadn't seen in a while and was celebrating seeing them. Why Kirby wants to make this a big public show, calling it stupid and all that, I guess we'll never know. Why not just take the kid to the side, say it didn't look good, and move on. No, Kirby decides to make a public case out of something most people wouldn't notice. I guess Kirby's got to Kirby.
