How many of the 9 teams ranked ahead of Bama would be favored against Bama on a neutral field right now? I say only the top 3?

As fun as the LSU win was, I don’t think we should read too much into it. LSU has a bad rushing defense, specifically against running QBs, and we were able to expose that. Same as last year. The remainder of our regular season schedule won’t tell us much more about the team. I am cautiously optimistic, but people seem to swing wildly between “we will be hard pressed to win another game” and “this team is unstoppable and the QB should win the Heisman.”

I don't think anyone thinks we're unstoppable. But the improvement (especially on defense) is undeniable. LSU has a very good passing game and our secondary locked their receivers down and made it very, very hard for them to move the ball through the air. The offense has been inconsistent against both good and bad defenses. The past two games that hasn't been the case. That in and of itself is an improvement. The team is improving, and it's not just smoke and mirrors.

I noticed that Heupel was left off… 😉
In all seriousness, Heupel is a much better coach than Kelly. I have had an opportunity to throw a few back with him once and I can also say he is a much better person as well. Kelly was once an innovator and on the cutting edge, but now he is a shriveled up angry red tyrant. Heupel can call some dang good ball on the offensive side and he obviously knows how to get his guys to play there butt off for him. I may hate the school but that doesn't mean I have to hate the coach.

This. If you know football you have seen major improvement from the D. 13 turnovers in the last 4 games and 6.5 pts/game over the last 2 game against two top 25 teams. The offense in the last 6 quarters has looked unstoppable running the ball. I am very bullish on us now.......

I was about to say I don't remember 13 turnovers in two games before realizing that isn't what you meant.

During the late 3rd quarter, I noticed how the DL was playing with so much confidence and swagger. Their rush was very physical, and the scheme was aggressive in all aspect. LB play was the best we've seen since the opening season. Herbie said the players are rallied to the ball! That's something we haven't heard in a long time. Just to add, the LSU OL is one of the best in the conference, so it wasn't like they faced an average offense and OL. Furthermore, adding Hubbard may be the missing piece in the secondary. Sabb's injury may be a blessing in disguise.

Agreed on Hubbard SJC. He is a ball hawk and making plays all over the field. Sabb may have gotten Wally Pip'd.

Possibly. Probably. I know BK has coached longer, but he had ND in the title game and in the CFP when it was still four teams.

Hypele hasn't won squat yet.

CKD's halftime speech

"We talk about being relentless," said DeBoer. Relentless for four quarters. Not two. Four quarters. Do not step on that field unless you are ready to start fast, get after them, be physical. Apply pressure every single play. Every single play until they quit."
