Pate basically quoted the CFP chairman in saying “that they are not punishing a conference championship loser”

He also threw out an interesting scenario… “what if Ohio St beats Oregon, Colorado beats BYU, Boise goes undefeated, and Texas beats Bama”. He made the case that it could result in Alabama traveling to Oregon first round and giving Boise an automatic bye.
This "Playoff Invitational" they've built is garbage.

If we win out we are in. The SEC is more important to me than ever. I would hate to see Texas win the SEC in their first year. The 1965 Orange Bowl lost to them still bothers me. On the one foot with two quarterbacks sneaks' to win. Namath claimed he scored. Too bad there was no instant replay. Instant reply has been good. In the one tie with them Bobby Skelton had the ball four foot in the end zone and they said he did not score. Nobody had more stroke in college football with the NCAA than Texas. Think about all the recruiting violations that went unnoticed. The Southwest Conference died because of that. The price of a blue chip player tracked the price of oil.

If you're referring to the SEC championship game, then no. Tennessee needs to lose to UGA.

I still can't believe it's a real possibility a G5 team will get a 1st round bye. However, having it happen in the first year of the new format might make them take a step back and say "Ok, we didn't think this through properly." and force them to reevaluate. The BCS formula was tweaked a few times and was rock solid moving forward. I think they will make changes.

Yeah, this is only a two-year contract, so the B1G and SEC will have to like how it works to sign on to more of the same.

I believe there's a good chance that either the B1G and SEC (or both) are miffed about having one or more teams left out and decide to do their own thing in 2026 and following, potentially pulling the ACC and B12 with them.

I wasn’t aware it was only for 2 years. If that’s the case, then yeah, this is basically just the SEC and B1G biding their time until they take matters into their own hands.

I think it really depends on whether or not either of them feel slighted by the committee.

It's why I believe even a 3-loss SEC team can get in over a one-loss ACC or B12 team, for example. SOS had better matter or the reason there's so much money in CFB - the B1G and SEC - will quite literally take their ball and go home.

Just the threat of the SEC and Big 10 pulling out will force playoff change. We pay the bills.

This is pretty much worst scenario w Bama coming in 4th and who know which team playoff ranking will have higher among 2 loss teams.

So we have to root for Texas to beat A$M and LSU taking another loss at vandy or Florida

We dont want to battle committee emotions picking Texas or Georgia (becos of SOS) when comparing Bama

At this point I dont know if Texas or tenn getting another loss will drop them as much as Georgia dropped.

The one below is how I think it will go -

which is good for Bama if committee doesnt mess up

The above Peter Burns scenario could be doomsday for someone’s playoff Hopes. If LSU and Aggie make the SECCG, and the committee already said the loser of a CG wouldn’t be penalized. Say LSU wins, gets the bye with 3 losses, and Aggie gets in for making the game, where would that leave Bama, UT, UGA, Texas, Ole Miss? They can’t all get in. I see a team getting left out that is capable of winning the National Title.

I THINK Texas is a good team but their schedule has been really soft. If they lose to A&M they're going to drop far or they should. They're probably over ranked right now.
