It's bizarre they managed this.
They were going to play Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Oklahoma regardless. Turns out OU is bad, but A&M a lot better. Arky is frankly, as expected. But traditionally, that would be two tough games and one decent game every year.
But on the other 5, they get Georgia. Ok that's a huge game.
Florida is traditionally tough but lately has been way down.
Vandy is decent this year but traditionally a cream puff.
Kentucky? Again, traditionally a nobody. Decently tough under Stoops, but this would be a huge upset if Texas lost.
And then Mississippi State. Awful.
So how did Texas get the all 3 worst teams in the SEC (Vandy, UK, and Miss State)? Florida and Arkansas were known to be way down. Although like I said, Arky was going to be a fixed opponent for Texas due to the historical rivalry between the two.
Only Georgia was a known good team on Texas's rotating schedule list. They should have played LSU, Ole Miss, or even Tennessee in place of either Florida, Vandy, UK, or MSU. I don't necessarily think this was a conspiracy, but I do think it was influenced. In other words, not random.
