Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I refuse to be set up for another let down at the hands of the evil emperor of SINK(LANK). You could give that last spot to Vandy for all I care

That would be a great idea to allow a team to give their "invite" to another team. Like you, I would definitely give it to Vandy.

With 12 teams playing for it, it's no longer really a National Championship, just a tournament winner.

How so?

Milroe and Arnold will be gone... (Is Arnold still a part of that?)

Milroe isn't going to gift it to anybody coming back next year.
It’s completely feasible to run a business without being physically located anywhere near your clients. I run an aviation management consulting business from south Baldwin County. The closest client to me is in upstate South Carolina. The farthest away is on the Puget Sound. For LANK, those clients are in Tuscaloosa. Their head man could run that business from wherever he plays next at whatever level.

I assume LANK makes a margin of some sort. Even if small, on a multimillion dollar annual turnover that could be well into the six figures, If were him, I would not shutter the business just because I moved elsewhere, and in the present Wild West NIL environment, how could anyone make him?

If we back door in, we win the championship or get blown out by 4 touchdowns in the first round. Anyone’s guess.

I expect Alabama to be ranked 13th in the CFP. If you are, all you need is for Texas to beat aTm to preserve that spot, and one team in front of you to lose. Clemson, SMU and Miami - need one to drop back. That will happen. So just beat Auburn decisively and you are in.

As for not deserving - there will be at least 5 teams in the playoffs who you would destroy. If they deserve to be in it, so does Alabama.

For every LANK kid on the team there are 10 others who are working hard and deserve our support.

If it's that simple then South Carolina @ Clemson is a big game this week. We also still don't know for sure how the committee will treat conference championship losers.

Well said, my friend. I too am frustrated, but if we get in... LET'S ROLL!

(sigh) I'm going to ask the Stupid Question of the Year because I obviously missed something.

Who or what is LANK? I've been seeing this term for a month. Can someone let me off the hook?

I hope you're right...but why do you think so? Even if Milroe leaves, the business survives.
Because there were two, now just one of the ringleaders behind lank still here. Once they are no longer wearing the crimson jersey their influence will be reduced considerably.

I also suspect DeBoer is smart enough to recognize that he played into this and decides it's time to stop the foolishness once the season is over. Perhaps I'm wish-casting, but I doubt Milroe is back at Bama next year. That alone would change the lank dynamic dramatically.

Lank in an of itself isn't an issue, and something like it is probably present in a lot of the blue-blood programs with well-known players.

The use of lank to leverage or support particular players is an issue. Once Milroe is no longer QB at Bama, it won't matter if lank continues to send checks to players (they're gonna get their fake NIL from somewhere), unless those checks allow undue influence on the players as a whole, which I doubt will happen since the two primary players who started the thing will no longer be working alongside the team day in and out.

Lank = let a naysayer know

It's the self-created NIL company that Terrion Arnold and Jalen Milroe started last year after Saban came up with the idea. They sell clothing with 'lank' on it and have made a lot of money in the process. Arnold and Milroe have been using some of the proceeds from these sales to 'spread the wealth' to the other players on the team, so every Bama player benefits from lank sales. That said, while it's not been reported, many of us know folks who do know that the spreading of said wealth has given some people (ahem) undue leverage wrt coaches choosing starters, etc.

Thanks! I had been beating my head against the wall trying to figure that one out.
