There is enormous chatter going on that we could have a mass exodus of skill position players if Milroe comes back. RW was probably the most mad coming off the field because of the performance than just about everyone else. I know a few people on the sidelines every game who indicated Haynes and RW were absolutely not happy with the lack of opportunities that they got Saturday. its also telling that some of our coaches are starting to follow high value quarterbacks that are expected to hit the transfer portal in the coming weeks.Because there were two, now just one of the ringleaders behind lank still here. Once they are no longer wearing the crimson jersey their influence will be reduced considerably.
I also suspect DeBoer is smart enough to recognize that he played into this and decides it's time to stop the foolishness once the season is over. Perhaps I'm wish-casting, but I doubt Milroe is back at Bama next year. That alone would change the lank dynamic dramatically.
I think it’s beyond obvious that unless we luck into a playoff then the Auburn game is Milroe’s last game in crimson. There is far too much talent to lose to appease a ball hog
LANK on the surface is a stupid travel ball softball slogan that most people become embarrassed to be associated with after they get back to their high school teams. Good on Milroe to make it work for him financially but like @B1GTide said last year once it became obvious that it was a clique thing more than a team motivation thing… it needs to die before it gets too out of hand.Lank in an of itself isn't an issue, and something like it is probably present in a lot of the blue-blood programs with well-known players.
The use of lank to leverage or support particular players is an issue. Once Milroe is no longer QB at Bama, it won't matter if lank continues to send checks to players (they're gonna get their fake NIL from somewhere), unless those checks allow undue influence on the players as a whole, which I doubt will happen since the two primary players who started the thing will no longer be working alongside the team day in and out.
