Why does she say we should hope that Clemson beats SMU? Thought it would be the other way around that if SMU wins then Clemson will be definitely be out of the discussion. Curious to know why she would say that.....She also says we should hope that Clemson beats SMU.
I have an easy cure for the ribbing. I just tell them that if the University of Alabama disbanded the team tomorrow and never played another game, no other team in the country would match their legacy in the next hundred years. When the reality is that they probably work with people that "rib" them on Mondays after an Alabama loss and they can't take it!
Alabama has won too much and there is a National Campaign or at least an ESPN analyst movement to create an environment to exclude the Tide. I’ll post a link from an article this morning where people like Andrea Adelson are pushing for USCe over the Tide. People are ignoring SOS and all due respect to IU and PSU. They stink and everyone knows it. Just like TCU so you will have a not great UGA team win the whole thing or Texas who has nothing like the schedule Alabama, Florida , UGA and the Sooners had to play.Let me throw this one out there:
In 2022, we had the whole mess with TCU (1-loss but not a conf champ) and Alabama (2 losses).
Do you think that if we had:
a) BEATEN Tennessee but
b) LOST to aTm without Bryce
.....that we make the playoff that year?
The committee could have plausibly said, "Alabama had a narrow loss without their Heisman winning QB, and thus there is every reason to believe as he is now healthy that they are one of the four best teams in the country" followed by the usual jargon of how many ranked teams we beat yadda yadda.
Why does she say we should hope that Clemson beats SMU? Thought it would be the other way around that if SMU wins then Clemson will be definitely be out of the discussion. Curious to know why she would say that.....
She don’t like us either. My buddy David Pollack told me this years ago in Montana.![]()

But this is like the "NFL Playoffs" now. I mean you can even hope an 8-8 team gets in the playoffs in the NFL. Different animal and different expectations now.As a reminder, we are arguing over which team with three losses ought to be in a playoff. That fact alone kinda mitigates any appeals to "but we got hosed because we beat so and so."
How on earth does that help us?She also says we should hope that Clemson beats SMU.
It doesn't. She is just not that smart. How on earth does that help us?
Her logic:How on earth does that help us?
Both ahead of Miami, USCe and Ole Miss.We are #11 in both the AP and the coaches poll. I know they don't always follow one another, but I think that's an encouraging sign, along with the FanDuel odds.
Yes, both polls suggest Miami is now toast so we should be in unless the CFP committee has such huge egos that they think they know more than the coaches do.We are #11 in both the AP and the coaches poll. And I don’t see how they can set the precedent that head-to-head doesn’t matterYes, both polls suggest Miami is now toast so we should be in unless the CFP committee has such huge egos that they think they know more than the coaches do.
I get what you’re saying, but the NFL playoffs do not have a selection committee comparing which 8-8 team makes it, either. They have an agreed-upon process for tiebreakers, and the very first one is head to head. But this is like the "NFL Playoffs" now. I mean you can even hope an 8-8 team gets in the playoffs in the NFL. That is idiotic. She is a moron. Not because of her opinion, but because of her false logic tree. Her logic:
