Bc we want to change the narrative. The current narrative is the sec is the best conference but not by much and the big ten and the sec are basically interchangeable. Which is insulting to anyone with eyes. If Tenn had come out hot it makes bama and the sec look a lot better perhaps paving the way for more sec teams in the playoffs.

I would like it to be competitive, but only due to the optics.

Tennessee played a fairly easy schedule relative to the other SEC teams, and you could easily argue that the pack of teams left out (South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Alabama) are as good, they just faced a more difficult path.

The issue is Ohio State was up there with Georgia, Texas, and an under-achieving Alabama team in terms of talent. If they show up and play their brand of football, Tennessee doesn't have the firepower.
