Doesn’t mean he’s coming here. He got lucky to get that job out there. He was not coming to Alabama last year, why would he this year?
Not wrong but a few thoughts.

1. Most people knew Saban was probably a few years from retiring so it was a risk of having to find a new job in a couple years.
2. He knew what he had with Penix - and he wasn't wrong.
3. When it came time to choose between Deboer and the NFL he probably thought it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, not to mention getting to stay closer to home.

Saban had a few assistants that peed on the door on their way out but he still had them back because they were good coaches.

Post game conference:
---
DeBoer said “no I didn’t” when asked if he considered a change at quarterback with Jalen Milroe struggling early. “I saw a fighter. The fight in his eyes. As long as I see that, I want to hang in there with the guys this program means a lot to.”
---
This dude needs to be canned tonight.

Or just give that perplexed look he has on the sidelines. Another guy I’ve given the benefit of the doubt the entire year. I keep thinking it will get better. We better win the conference at least next year, he has used up a lot of his honeymoon goodwill capital this year. It’s not that they lost 4 games, it’s the way they lost.
yeah, to be totally unprepared against teams you should handle without a problem is not good. But to continue to stick with one of the main problems in those games is even worse.

that's what we tried last year, with it pre-determined before the snap if it was give/keep from the sideline. Teams are loading the box so we have to try to do something to freeze one defender and have enough blockers. The RPO leaves the 'read' guy unblocked so it gives us a chance. They know Jm isn't likely to hit a quick pass so even with the box stacked they can usually drop out into coverage if we pass and have time to get where they need to be.
I appreciate the explanation.

To make it clear though, I'm not trying to say it's not Milroe's fault at all. I'm just saying I don't like the playcalling either.

Basically, if it ain't working then you shouldn't keep doing it. Even if they just mixed in more designed runs, or heck more plays like that reverse, etc... I think it could have made a big difference both by mitigating risk (runs for 0 yards early in the Michigan game would have been better than what actually happened) and balancing the offense more.

I just know you can't hand the ball off 12 times in a game like this (with the QB struggling) and think you as an offensive coordinator did your job correctly.

So, this program doesn’t mean much to a guy that’s been toiling away, unheralded , grinding every day in practice without reward.
It's such BS

Milroe doesn't give a rats behind about Alabama.

He tried to portal out last year and nobody wanted him with his attached asking conditions.

He's not this pristine good kid off the field that people thinks he is...

He's a Terrible QB and a Terrible teammate but a very Shrewd Business man.

He has a cult of personality and is able to pull the wool over people's eyes and CKD has to be one of the biggest sheep I've ever seen.

I hope to God, that Michigan gave Milroe a national championship ring for last year because they damn sure couldn’t have won it without him. Come to think of it, I hope he gets whatever the winner gets in this game too because you can apply that same reality to him.

completely get that. I'm not in love with the game plan and some of the play calls either.

Then I think through the question "what should we do in that situation (down/distance/D alignment)?"

unfortunately, most of the answers that I think an OC would want to try end up being things that JM just doesn't do consistently. Even then, Sheridan tried them a few times, but JM didn't execute correctly (i.e. open receivers, very, very often not being seen).

Sheridan might end up being a bust, but I just can't judge him yet until he has a QB who is more capable of doing more things.

He's simply handcuffed right now, just like Rees was last year.

There is a reason that 2 different OCs, who both had deeper pedigrees in the passing game, ended up running almost the exact same set of things across 2 seasons with JM in the game, and that's cause JM can only do a very limited set of things.
