Would CNS Have Done Any Better This Year than CKD with the same roster???

Caveat: CNS has CKD's same roster.

Remember the drama CKD dealt with this year was already there. Somebody will say, "CNS wouldn't have allowed JM to return as QB if CNS would have returned." Maybe, maybe not. I also realize we might now lose Downs, Sayin and others to the portal if CNS returned.

But, the "rule" for this discussion is is if CNS had the same exact roster as CKD, including JM at QB, and he coached in 2024, does he have a record any better than CKD this year???

Hard to say, but here's the rule of discussion for this thread: If CNS had the same exact roster, including JM at QB, and he coached in 2024, does he have a record any better than CKD this year???
Beat Vandy and Oklahoma for sure

First round bye in playoffs. We're most likely playing today with another legit shot at winning ANOTHER national championship

No because JM is, was, and will be (Wherever he winds up) the problem.

Right, I acknowledge that, but I'm asking us to imagine he's playing with the cards CKD got dealt to him (very same roster).
I suspect you'd see a tighter window of performance - higher lows and lower highs. Not sure how that translates. As a guess I'd say Bama probably wins one more game with Saban here.

Yes, no, maybe. Replacing a DC and having to find a second receiver since Bernard wouldn’t be on the roster are huge issues that would have to be addressed.

But I agree with @crimsonaudio that not having 30 days where teams have a free buffet on our roster is a huge advantage. But idk if Saban staying would be better for our future in the long run. His choice of recruits and coaches was getting progressively worse.

I think Vandy and Oklahoma at least.........might have lost to UGA, or not. The UGA fans are calling that loss a fluke now.........which is hilarious considering he beat them twice in 365 days

I don’t think they completely crap the bed against Oklahoma.

Other than that, I could see them losing the other games they lost.

That is not to say CKD is anywhere near CNS as a HC. That’s to say Milroe and his gang are that much of a cancer.
Yep, in no way am I comparing CNS vs. CKD in terms of coaching careers, but just trying to imagine this season with CNS and this roster.

But I agree with your take! Think we'd be about in the same place.

IMO there's almost zero chance Saban (and whoever his OC would have been) could have come up with the offensive explosion in the first 20 mins vs UGA. I'm also not sure that Saban's D would have fared significantly better against Vandy or OU.

I do think Saban likely beats UT in 2024.

I'd argue Saban should have stepped down a few years ago, like after the 2020 season.
had we won it in 21 then i think he might had retired in Indianapolis. There are too many Mack Browns who get so close in a seemingly magical ending that they get so drunk in the chase to write it. I think Saban really thought with Bryce he could have done it in 22 and probably with the team in 23 he could potentially do it. But 2020 was probably a great time to do it.

Yeah, hard to say...............DeBoer definitely put the screws to UGA
