I should probably let it go but I might as well get the last thing off my chest.

Of all the ridiculous things that have happened this season I still can't believe our AD's call to financial arms.

CKD is making $10 Mil to not make tough decisions.

Milroe is estimated to earn in the $2.5 to $3 Million dollar range and produces the worst starting QB play we've seen in Two Decades.

Byrne himself makes $1.5 Mil and he gets online like...

Honestly Nate Oats in the only person in the Athletic complex earning his Salary.

He's also our Basketball version of Steve Spurrier and likes to get folks worked up....

I think I'd die laughing if we met Michigan in the NCAAT this year and beat them and CNO in the post game presser said "Well somebody at this University had to do it".

Post Season thoughts?

Okay.

Mainly I want to stay engaged but that depends on one particular announcement. I’m still interested at this point but that’s falling short of previous years by a LONG SHOT! Between Xfers, NIL/PFP, calls to donate to a cause I don’t believe in and the LANK cancer I’m teetering on the edge of being little more than a passive fan.

In watching the game yesterday with my non-Alabama fan football-watching buddy, I explained the long tale of how we got from Coach Bryant to Coach Saban.
In recounting that long, sad story (except Coach Stallings, but even he had a sad ending) I realized just how much I have an aversion to getting back on that coaching roller coaster. It was so long and so painful, I do not want to get back on it.
I'm inclined to be patient with Coach DeBoer, and hope for a better times next year and much better times the year after. But he's gonna need to start demanding a lot more accountability from players and coaches. He better start expecting a lot more accountability from players and coaches or Greg Byrne needs to expect a lot more accountability from Coach DeBoer by the end of 2026. And if Greg Byrne doesn't hold Coach DeBoer accountable, then the Board of Trustees needs to hold Greg Byrne accountable.

If you are going to survive and compete in the NIL era, I believe we are...

1) To convince kids that Alabama is still one of the best places to get developed and noticed for a professional career and lean on our pedigree for doing that.
2) We need to stay away from the kids who have no professional potential who are just coming, and possibly going, to make as much money they can while they are in college.
3) We better have a plan for playing everyone in our 3 deep roster including QB. You simply can't keep kids motivated and them not see the field.
4) We cannot make promises about opportunity snaps, plays, etc on the field.
5) We have to set expectations and boundaries for what will be tolerated at Alabama.

The same recruiting message Saban had of you will the opportunity and we will win with you or without still works in the NIL era we just have to double down on our commitment to it and target the right players And that may more 3 stars than 5 stars.

Well said.

As much as I want CKD to succeed, I am torn up by his inability to change a QB when one obviously is having a terrible day. If i remember correctly JM's first three attempts to play QB were fumble, fumble and INT. My knee-jerk reaction, after CKD put JM back on the field was FIRE CKD NOW. Of course, that was KNEE-JERK emotion talking. This morning, I don't want him fired.
It has always bothered me when a HC pretends, he only has ONE QB. I do not understand that mindset, especially when your starter has a history of choking under pressure. JM threw FOUR incompletions in his last throws. CKD game him enough rope, again, to hang up another loss. So, I am going to have to girt my loins and hang on. I hate it when I lose confidence in a QB or HC.

After Bryant retired we tried the rotating door of coaches. Other than Stallings, it didn't work out. I hope we keep DeBoer and some level of coaching stability until - after passage of several years! - it's clear he's not the right person. But for now, he's the right person!
Furthermore, we don't have the deep pockets of NIL money that other big dogs have. We can pretend... but we just don't. We - and college football - won't see a repeat of the continual run of success we achieved under Saban. I'm hoping we can make a credible run every few years. IMO that should be our new metric for success.

You are so right . Sometimes I find it hard to even enjoy a game. That’s a problem. So I need to do the same thing you need to do ……stop taking things so seriously and focus on the important things in life. Have a happy new year.
Thinking about the devolution of the game into a state where the schools lend their brand to rapidly changing groups of 18 to 20 year old mercenaries with little emotional attachment to the schools has helped me in the “ not take it so seriously “ department.
