Like with Rees, I'm giving Sheridian a pass because the offense looked a lot like it did last season under Rees, which tells me one thing. They both reached the same conclusion about Milroe and that was they could only run a certain amount of plays with his limitations. There's no telling what was said in coaches' meetings when about Milroe when it was just the adults in the room...

Oh, oh....I know what was probably said.....

He can't run it.

Ok, what can he run.

I hate listening to him say nothing but I really do not expect a personality transplant
Just maybe he has nothing to say! If we are waiting on him to approximate CNS in any way I expect we are in for disappointment.

I really hope we find out the real story one day. There’s simply no reason Milroe ever should have been our starting QB. This will go down as one of the biggest enigmas in Bama football history.
It will certainly be a mark on CNS's last two years.

But it actually goes back to 2022 when we saw how "lost" JM looked when he had to cover for BY for a little bit. I'll never forget how I felt watching the TAMU game, which we managed to win, despite JM's fumbling. The writing was on the wall right then.

So when TS couldn't beat JM out at the beginning of 2023 the saga began! I imagine books will be written about that season. It was such the anti-Saban season with all the drama on and off the field. No wonder he said, "See ya."

Is it possible that JM was actually better than the QB's behind him on the roster the last two years?

I believe that at least TS would have been a better choice, but maybe he wasn't. Bringing in Buchner certainly wasn't a vote of confidence for the QB room.

And if that's the case, what on earth has been going on in our QB room for the last 3 + years to put us in the position we've been in since then?

This concerns me, also. It doesn't bode well for next year unless KR is a true phenom. Hopefully TS will be able to step up and play at a high level until KR is able/ready to take the reins.

I was told there was a "divided" room wrt which players thought JM should be starting and which players thought TS should be starting. Not every WR/player thought JM was the better choice. Specifically, there were several wr's who felt like TS should have been the starter. Supposedly several thought he threw a more "catchable" ball than Milroe. There were some things Milroe did better than Simpson, and conversely, there were some things Simpson did better than Milroe. But what ultimately separated Milroe from Simpson in the coaches' eyes (last year and this year) was his athleticism and his ability to take it to the house with his legs at any given moment. From what I was told, THAT is what tilted the scales in Milroe's favor from the coaches' eyes.

That was an interesting take. I'm guessing that we also had disagreement among the coaches on which way to go. It seems that defenses became dominant in keeping JM from hurting them with his legs. Just can't get over how we never even tried to adjust.

A sane voice in the wilderness of folks coming up with a million tortured reasons why Simpson didn't start.

That makes perfect sense and sounds very reasonable.

That all makes sense. Just raises the question of why, after seeing Milroe struggle so badly in key games, that no attempt was made to insert someone else at QB. Seems like the OU game would have been a no-brainer. The bowl game meant almost nothing so not pulling him in that isn't really some kind of unpardonable sin, but how on earth he was allowed to essentially lose the OU game (with the stakes being so incredibly high) without even trying anything different is nuts to me.

Also, I know he's not Milroe, but Simpson does have pretty decent wheels...and I"m guessing he'd be more competent reading/running the RPO. His ability to execute that effectively may have almost negated any advantage Milroe had in terms of pure athleticism.

This goes back to what I feel like has been an indentity crisis for Alabama football ever since Kiffin was brought in. Smaller linemen, bigger linemen. Running game disappears for entire seasons. Dual threat QBs, Tua. We've been lost.

It's highly unlikely.

NILroe used LANK to gain preference with enough players to make it matter and those guys pretty much made their statement of what would happen in the USF game after NILroe was benched for the way he handled the UT film review.

TS won support from his group with just play on the practice field. WRs wanted him throwing the ball to them.

Coaches wanted NILroe to transfer before the 2023 season but he wouldn't agree to going to teams that wouldn't guarantee him a starting spot.

Don't forget Milroe was basically propped up immediately as the starter by CKD shortly after he arrived on campus. A lot of that had to do with Milroe playing a big role in keeping a lot of players from transferring out. So there was a big level of loyalty going on in this dynamic as well. No need to get into all the dynamics, because there were layers of it, but just be thankful we're done with it.

Ty will not be guaranteed the job and will have to beat out Mack and Russell. So whoever we have on the field next season will be the best QB in the room and there SHOULDN'T be any of the dynamics that played into the QB situation this season.

Dude I can't remember one single time where you see him adjust protection.

Seth was constantly having to do it last year and he was animated with it.

He looked like a Center doing it in a hostile road game but in BDS.

Milroe never called Hot Routes or anything.

It was super noticable because Bryce was probably one of the most noticable examples of doing that stuff because BoB gave complete control to him wrt to Audibles and because BoB was so bad at play calling Bryce had to do it a ton.

Milroe is not a QB.

He can't do a single thing at the LOS.

He has a strong arm but that's mitigated by his terrible mechanics and footwork.

He's fast in a straight line but that's mitigated by having no vision or lateral wiggle.

The NFL will eat him alive and pick the bones clean.
You’re starting to sound like a naysayer.

But it was Milroe's great ability to go "deer in the headlights" in the most crucial games this year that sank BAMA.

TCU was losing Max Duggan after 2022. It was rumored TCU was one of the schools interested in taking JM as a transfer, but not even Sonny Dykes was desperate (or dumb) enough to guarantee him a starting role.
