OSU went to a different level when they got to the playoffs. They are the most complete team in this first year of the new era of college football. I watched the game last night because I like to watch good competitive games. Basically, OSU vs Texas was the championship game as far as I’m concerned. The only way ND beats OSU is if OSU beats itself. That being said, I’m not a fan of the new era college football (I’ll save you my rant on that). I do, however, congratulate OSU on the win and have a lot of respect for what I heard from their players after the game.

Amazing the difference that one position can make. Alabama might have won it all with a different QB.
No question the talent was there...even after the transfers that left a big hole (e.g. Caleb Downs).

A different QB running CKD's offensive system and yes it's a whole different team!

And the defense turned out to be just fine after some initial growing pains.

IMO, TOSU did what good teams do. They got better as they went deeper into the year. I know they hiccuped against Michigan, but they are playing their best football right now!

This format will almost guarantee a 1-seed will hardly ever win it all. You benefit more from playing in the first round than you do having a bye
The problem with this year was a combination of the number of teams (12 is too many) and seeding (ASU and BSU at 3 & 4 because of auto-byes? tOSU at 8? Riiiight). Get rid of teams 9-12, and get the seeding right, and things will look different in future years…

I agree with Smokie's comments. Watching all the games I am totally convinced we never belonged in the CFP conversation. Watching all of these games also convinces me how wide the gap for Alabama has become now between tOSU, Texas, ND, and PSU in terms of talent and more importantly, coaching. I realize all the circumstances surrounding our mediocre season, but there is no excuse, even with Milroe, we should have lost to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. The future is a huge question mark for our program and I hope next year is better, but we have to have better coaching on both sides of the ball.
Er...saying there is a wide gap in talent between Bama and ND/PSU is ludicrous....nor is the gap to UT/OSU large if at all. Our roster is stacked with players of the same ability...and THEIR rosters have ex-Bama players even. I will give you coaching, or coaching emphasis..we need to get back to winning the trenches..thats what has showed up in these games...a running game is more important than throwing for 300+ yards

Boise State, SMU, and Arizona State never had a chance to make it to the finals. You could make a case if Texas and tOSU had been on different sides of the brackets, tOSU would likely be playing Texas rather than Notre Dame. I am glad the season is nearly over so we can look forward to spring football.
Texas should have lost to ASU. The refs decided to get involved and the ASU safety made a bad mistake in 1st OT. Otherwise we would have an easy Ohio State win.

But the fact remains… Texas was not one of the best 4 teams in the country. Neither was PSU. PSU and Texas were gift wrapped easy paths due to an easy schedule and an easy playoff draw.

This is correct ... but it won't happen. The 💰 tells me we're more likely to go to a 16 team format, to the detriment of the game.

The CFP seeding was laughably bad for 2024.

I agree we didn't belong but that's mainly because of the context of the how's and why's we lost the 3 regular season games and especially the OU game when we for a fleeting moment controlled our destiny.

But I don't think we are as far away from the Top teams as it seems.

We had something in common with tOSU, ND, Texas, PSU, Tenn, and IU...

That was a Top 10 Defense

If you take away the garbage points that teams scored on us because of Milroe just giving them the ball for direct points or placing them in scoring range and it's probably closer to a Top 5 Defense.

But the QB position just killed us period.

It didn't matter who we had a RB or WR because every play was filtered through Milroe.

He constantly made bad decisions and no decisions and became a turnover machine.

We could point situational fingers at some coaching issues here and there or a few defensive lapses here and there or even self inflicted penalties...

But ultimately if we just get Game Manager QB play that doesn't let you beat yourself then we make the playoffs.

Jalen Milroe is THE reason we lost 4 games.
Tell us how you really feel about JM.

JK, great post that underscores what most of us have known since late 2023 season if not before.

If you feel like the refs decided to get involved to let Texas beat ASU, would you say the refs decided to get involved last night to help Ohio state? Because I feel like the game last bight was by far more poorly officiated than the a Texas ASU game. (I can’t stand Texas by the way and laughing my butt off that Sark didn’t bring in Manning 1st and goal from the 1)
