Give me OC Kiffin with Milroe (as bad as he was this year) and we make playoffs. Look what Kiffin did with Blake Sims. He made the offense around what Sims could do and stayed away from what he couldn’t do.

Idk… Kiffin couldn’t make Jalen Hurts work. The reason we got in that year was 1) The SEC wasn’t good and 2) our defense was in the GOAT list. Kiffin could only do miracles with coachable players and players that can see more than 1 receiver.

Speaking of Sims… kiffin actually knew Sims previously and was on his recruiting board while at Tennessee. There was a great familiarity between the two.

Point is I don’t think anyone but Sark had a clue with what to do with Milroe, and even that I question what Sark was thinking when recruiting him because he doesn’t fit his style either.

I think Marshall's HC leaving had a lot to do with the number of players hitting the portal. So it's not just the players who are causing chaos.
The whole team still left, and the college couldn’t stop them.

Next spring the same thing could happen at any school.

The schools have no control.

Did you actually watch Milroe? He panics when faced with pressure. His brain turns off.
Yep and when his first read isn’t there when you rollout you let him run. How many times did he hold the ball like a deer in headlights in the pocket. Someone that athletic shouldn’t have taken a single sack much less lead the nation in sacks. I’m not defending Milroe because Im glad he’s moved on I’m just saying Sheridan has been a terrible OC at Indiana and Alabama. It took Grubb to make Phoenix jr in to the player he became. Sheridan had him and he had like 5 tds compared to 11 int at Indiana.

Blake Sims was a better QB than MIlroe................

Now you're just being blind......are you MEroes uncle or something.
Tommy Rees said they had to dumb down the offense and tell him before the play whether or not to hand off or keep BEFORE THE PLAY STARTED. So, they TRIED to teach/coach him. He either wasn't willing to listen or just couldn't get it.
Add to that, MEroe (and he said this himself) fancied himself as a drop back pocket passer. Heck, he can't even read a defense pre-snap.

Didn't he throw a tantrum after the Texas game when they tried to teach him while watching film?

I am not saying that I like Alabama's OC. I am saying that Milroe was not a playoff QB no matter the OC.

And I’m not saying I like Milroe as a qb because I don’t like Milroe as a qb, but if he was such a problem that everyone is saying then it’s on Deboer and Sheridan as well as Saban and Reese that kept him playing and not moving on from him.

I have said that all along. He should not have made it past the Texas game in 2023.

Difference is CNS and Reese went 12-2, and won the SEC. Other than the USF game, we didn’t have absolute blasphemy showings on offense.

17 points @ UT , 3 points @ OU, and 13 points against Michigan.

Sheridan is a horrible OC. He has no resume to prove otherwise. And if DeBoer isn’t willing to make changes on offense, then it’s gonna be a very short ride in Title Town.

Teams this year had enough film to prepare for Milroe's weaknesses.

Saying our coaches couldn’t adjust in games because of Milroe is ridiculous. The problem is our coaching staff tried to make our players conform to their scheme instead of creating a scheme around our players ability. Kiffin was the best at this in my opinion. Milroe could not run this offense effectively, we all agree. Yet he ran the plays called by the OC. .....
At conforming to the player? On the contrary, he taught Blake to run his offense. It's the offense Saban hired him to install. He did not conform to Blake Sims. He put some runs in there for him because of his speed, but it was his offense.

It's been said but needs to be said again:

There have been 2 HCs (GOAT and HC that played in the NC in '23)...

There have been 2 OCs (Reese and Sheridan and it's well known what Reese did with JM in the off week before the '23 LSU game)....

And 1 QB named JM.

Name the common denominator and you identify why the offense has looked remarkably similar the last two years!

Look, we can debate why CNS played him and why CKD played him and a million other things including why neither of them ever benched him, but Jalen Milroe was THE problem both seasons!!!

You cannot argue with last season’s (‘23) results. CNS got as much out of Milroe as possible.

Part of that may be because as @B1GTide said, teams didn’t have as much film to process on Milroe.

This season, it was inexplicable to keep playing him.
