If you always bet against Detroit the last 2 seasons then you lost a ton of money. They lost because of their turnovers AND their injuries on defense, not the play calling.
I should have qualified it as “in playoffs and big games”. But yes I would say this year they pretty much lost their defense to injury and that was a bigger factor. But their coach is asking to get egg on his face constantly with these needlessly over aggressive plays. It costed him in the NFCCG last year.

Lamar isn’t good enough to win a superbowl. Buffalo played one of the worst 2nd halves and Baltimore didn’t punt once… and still lost.

You play this Mickey Mouse system and defenses in January will limit your potential in the redzone. Yes Andrews will get the heat of the blame but really the Ravens are lucky the refs can’t tell when a defensive lineman was slipping on ice and being held on the drive after Lamar’s horrid interception or else the Ravens would have been down 18 instead of 11 at halftime and this is never a game.

But at this point I have no idea what to expect in the Conference round because logic says Allen has to get one of these over Mahomes and this feels like the one that looks to most in Allen’s favor. But sometimes you just can’t get past that one team. My head says Bills but my gut says Chiefs.

On the NFC side I think Philly was the best team entering the playoffs. But something about Daniels is just special. I think the Eagles get it done but I’m not super confident.

Detroit and Baltimore both lost because they couldn’t keep from turning the ball over. That was a brutal game for Andrews though.

I guess I will be pulling for a Philly vs Buffalo Super Bowl for the BAMA guys. But I sure was hoping to see Henry win one.

He did not have a good game.
61 yards on 7 catches for a TE wasn’t a bad game. The fumble was just a great play by the defensive guy. Cowher basically says that basically never happens in the open field like that and was just a High IQ play by the defensive guy. The drop…. Was just unbelievable considering that it was Andrews. I don’t blame Lamar for throwing it to him because that’s his best guy.

But the game wasn’t lost because of Andrews. It was lost because the Ravens are too inconsistent passing when they need to be. The Ravens didn’t punt once in the game and were held to 25 points. That tells you they are settling for FGs and turning the ball over. Yes everyone is going to remember Andrews fumble but what about Lamar’s horrible pick and his fumble? That interception didn’t hurt him only because the ref saw a ravens defensive end slip on snow and thought it was a hold otherwise the Bills are probably taking Henry out of the game because they would be up 3 scores at halftime. But the Lamar fumble happened on the Buffalo 28 and pretty much set Buffalo up with an easy TD.

The problem with the Ravens is that they are a gimmick system on offense in which teams severely hold them below their averages in January because they slow them down. The Ravens defense probably doesn’t get nearly enough the credit that they deserve. Holding an offense led by Allen to 27 is probably the only reason that the Ravens have the ability to play the what if game because this game looked like a 45-22 beatdown on the way at halftime.

Yep. 3 turnovers on the road usually is a recipe for a belt whooping. But Baltimore’s defense kept them in it.

I have a hard time pulling for a Philadelphia based team in anything based on their fans. I believe Washington has a few Bama players like Brob. So I’m pretty much pulling for Washington and Buffalo.

Since 2013… only two 1k rushers won a a SB in the year that they ran. Marshawn in 13 and Legarrett Blount in 2016. There is some curse with league leading running backs winning a SB. With the Ravens I doubt Henry will even reach a SB because how good the AFC is and how everyone plays Lamar in January. However I can’t think of a team that he was seriously considering that would be a better fit for his talents. I think if Derrick wins one then it will be in a lesser role for a SB team. It’s just seems like teams that run it that much get hit hard in January for whatever reason.

Jonathan Allen and D Payne are still with Washington so there’s worth in cheering for them as well.

Amari Cooper is with Buffalo, and Buffalo really deserves one after all.

I got so frustrated watching Baltimore because, Lamar’s play was giving me ptsd about the last two years of Alabama. But it would probably have worked out if not for Andrews two blunders. Of course, they shouldn’t have gone for two when down 21-19…

Again Lamar is really lucky that 1) The refs had his back after his interception and 2) Andrews had dropped the ball at the end (the fumble really is just a great defensive play more than a guy carrying the ball loosely). Because if either of those things don’t happen… then Lamar would be getting it big time.

Really the Ravens are lucky they weren’t took to blowout city early. I mean if this “hold” isn’t called then they would have been down 18 at halftime and Derrick Henry probably could’ve stayed by the heater the rest of the game

Not sure why you hate their QB, but you are not rational when discussing games in which he plays. Yes, he had 2 turnovers. But Andrews had a turnover and a dropped pass, both late in the 4th, and both cost them points in a game in which they lost by 2. Jackson and the rest of the team did enough to get them back in the game. Then the nail - the drop.

This was uncharacteristic for Andrews. He has only had one other fumble in his career, and he almost never drops passes. Yes, it was a great play by the defensive player. But it is still on him. Just like the turnovers by Jackson are on him.

Funny game. Lots of blame to go around. And the Bills move on.

That was the only flag thrown on the Bills the entire game. The only one. The refs helped the Bills far more than they helped the Ravens.

There were several times when holds weren’t called and Ravens had excessive hits that weren’t called. The refs mostly did the opposite of what they did in the Chiefs game and let the two teams play. But that by far was the most egregious call that changed momentum in the whole game because if the Bills score there then the Ravens never have a prayer.

But Lamar has two turnovers directly on him. Change either one and the Ravens likely win also. But we will hear all year about Andrews dropped pass and him fumbling as if that is the only reason they lost. The Ravens ultimately lost because their offense again choked in January, and a huge part of that is how their offense is designed around Lamar Jackson. It leads to alot of turnovers and a lot of settling for FGs instead of touchdowns.

I get it.

I don't care if the Ravens ever win a game. I pull for players, not teams. I do not pull for Jackson because he never played for Alabama or OSU. But he is great. They built their offense around him because of that greatness.

Their problems have been that they cannot win the big game, and their playoff losses have been for lots of different reasons, but mostly untimely turnovers. Not just by Jackson - by the entire team. Jackson is the QB, so more have been his, but that is the case for every QB on every team in the sport.

Sometimes you have to get lucky. The Bills are the perfect example of a franchise that lost so many games with the best team in the sport. It happens. It is just the nature of this sport.

However if the same thing keeps happening… it’s no longer luck its fate. This offense isn’t built to win the big one. 25 points, no punts, and having the #1 passing and rushing team in the NFL is a system failure not a fluke. It’s just as predictable every year as Mike Tomlin teams winning 9 games and doing nothing in January. Everyone knew deep down that the Ravens would choke, it was just a question of a blowout or a heart breaker. The only sad thing in all of it is that a great TE like Andrews is now the Bill Buckner in Maryland sports even though everyone of us knows Allen most likely drives down the field and gets the walkoff anyways.

Lamar IS a top 10 quarterback but he isn’t a top 5 quarterback is more the argument I’m making. I don’t even think he is the best quarterback in his division. I would say I would take Joe over him and twice on Sunday. Yet we constantly hear him compared to Mahomes but it ignores why Mahomes is so great. Mahomes is great because he rarely gets into sink hole games and is clutch. Lamar is a front runner in which if he is on then he is on, but if he is off or needs to make a late drive he constantly falls off the map. Last night might have been the first time ever that I’ve seen him make a meaningful drive late in a meaningful nfl game. So maybe he is starting to turn the corner.

As for the Bills…. Idk. Much of their issues has centered around one team getting in their way. It’s like the Colts, Steelers, and Chargers of the 2000’s having to go through the Patriots. Eventually they will get it done… Allen is just too good not to have it happen eventually. This would be a prime year to have it happen but on the road vs the refs and the Chiefs is still going to be tough.

Don't forget that Henry dropped a pass on the third play of the game. Collingsworth wouldn't shut up about it.

I don't think Lamar is a sure thing bet to win a Super Bowl. But, the Andrews fumble and drop lost the game more than anything. While it was a heads up play by the defender to force the fumble, Andrews was still carrying that ball like a loaf of bread, and in that kind of weather? Egregious. But I feel for him. He never makes mistakes like that and he ended up having 2 utterly critical ones.

I don't think there are inherent issues with Baltimore's offensive strategy either. It's the turnovers. And their QB is just prone to them. They had over 400 yards last night...
