I get it.
I don't care if the Ravens ever win a game. I pull for players, not teams. I do not pull for Jackson because he never played for Alabama or OSU. But he is great. They built their offense around him because of that greatness.
Their problems have been that they cannot win the big game, and their playoff losses have been for lots of different reasons, but mostly untimely turnovers. Not just by Jackson - by the entire team. Jackson is the QB, so more have been his, but that is the case for every QB on every team in the sport.
Sometimes you have to get lucky. The Bills are the perfect example of a franchise that lost so many games with the best team in the sport. It happens. It is just the nature of this sport.
However if the same thing keeps happening… it’s no longer luck its fate. This offense isn’t built to win the big one. 25 points, no punts, and having the #1 passing and rushing team in the NFL is a system failure not a fluke. It’s just as predictable every year as Mike Tomlin teams winning 9 games and doing nothing in January. Everyone knew deep down that the Ravens would choke, it was just a question of a blowout or a heart breaker. The only sad thing in all of it is that a great TE like Andrews is now the Bill Buckner in Maryland sports even though everyone of us knows Allen most likely drives down the field and gets the walkoff anyways.
Lamar IS a top 10 quarterback but he isn’t a top 5 quarterback is more the argument I’m making. I don’t even think he is the best quarterback in his division. I would say I would take Joe over him and twice on Sunday. Yet we constantly hear him compared to Mahomes but it ignores why Mahomes is so great. Mahomes is great because he rarely gets into sink hole games and is clutch. Lamar is a front runner in which if he is on then he is on, but if he is off or needs to make a late drive he constantly falls off the map. Last night might have been the first time ever that I’ve seen him make a meaningful drive late in a meaningful nfl game. So maybe he is starting to turn the corner.
As for the Bills…. Idk. Much of their issues has centered around one team getting in their way. It’s like the Colts, Steelers, and Chargers of the 2000’s having to go through the Patriots. Eventually they will get it done… Allen is just too good not to have it happen eventually. This would be a prime year to have it happen but on the road vs the refs and the Chiefs is still going to be tough.
