LSU....2003/4....
2003 LSU had 1 loss, and won the SEC. Furthermore, that title was split between them and USC anyway.

2007 LSU had 2 losses, and won the SEC.

I'm saying, has there ever been a 2-loss team to win the national championship that DO NOT win their conference until 2024 Ohio State?

I don't think so IIRC

Did a 2 loss ND team ever win it all?

Ohio State was probably the best and most talented team but it was more they just got hot in the playoffs. The regular season they were pretty average. They lost 2 games one vs an average Michigan team and only scored 10 points in that game along with the Oregon game. However they had a couple other close calls. Nebraska had them 17 14 pretty late in the 4th before Ohio State got a TD with 6 minutes left to win 21-17. They also had a pretty close 20-13 win vs Penn State. It is pretty amazing with that offense they had 3 games they scored 21 points or less.

I would rather be in a position to nitpick a national champion Bama team

Congrats to osu they were the best team this year. I’d put money on a full strength Uga beating them by a couple of scores but screw Georgia forever this’ll do.
Side note- don’t like the portal but seeing a team work it this well is impressive in a new gross yet fun-adjacent kind of way.

I said years ago that I thought Ryan Day was the right hire who would do well at Ohio State, and he validated my viewpoint this evening. No, he did not beat in Michigan the last couple of years, but rivalry games are now meaningless anyway.

Now comes the difficult part: sustaining your one in a row non-dynasty into a dynasty.

The loss to Mich at home was inexcusable but at this point it is meaningless like our loss to AU in 2017

I've considered him a Top 5 HC before this Playoff run but after it he's pretty much put himself in the Top 3 with Kirby and Dabo as the only other active HC's with a NC in the Playoff era.

Though I would argue this path to a NC was more difficult than any of the wins by Kirby or Dabo.

Day basically beat 4 Top 8 teams in a row... handily... and two of those were Top 5.

It's impressive.

By the way, did any Auburn folks, rant and rave about the fact LeBron James is an Ohio State fan who never went to school there, or is that just a nonsensical argument they selectively use when it is Alabama?
