President-elect Trump's appointments part II

It would be rewriting history to say Kennedy is not an anti-vaxxer... Or that he doesn't envision defunding the NIH.

The NIH generates a large fraction of the basic scientific data that the entire world uses to improve health care and medical care. All of the pharmaceutical companies depend on the basic research of the NIH to design their drugs. Kennedy wants to take large chunks of it and repurpose it for alternative therapies that we already know have no use past a placebo effect or relatively mild somatic effects.

As for vaccine safety... Many large well done and well controlled studies have been performed to examine the safety of the current vaccine schedule. We know it is generally quite safe and does what we want it to do. The idea that we "don't know how vaccines work" and "we don't know their dangers" is simply not true. The anti-vaccine movement has simply lied, and lied, and lied some more and moved the goalposts time and time again.

Heck, I had a lady in my clinic question the polio vaccine the other day... we've have had effective polio vaccines for 70 years. And there is NO other treatment for polio. Stop vaccinating and the only ones who will benefit are the makers of chronic home ventilators and feeding tubes. Prior to vaccinations being available 15,000 children were paralyzed per year. Our population has roughly doubled since 1950... that means we'd have 30,000 paralyzed children per year once polio reestablished itself. And it would be back in short order.

The anti-vaccine movement = the flat Earth movement.

Both are full of idiots who are just begging for attention while using fake science to justify their stupidity.

Problem is Dictator Trump is trying to put an ant-vaxxer in charge of healthcare. Maybe he should put a flat-Earther in charge of NASA.

There's no real reason for Republicans to pursue this when it wasn't done four years ago. They're just playing by the rules set by precedence. And yeah, you're probably thinking, "well, someone has to end this pattern of behavior" and I agree, but deep down, I think we both know that won't happen.

I cant think of any that are as unqualified or poorly suited as some of these. Trump has hit an all time low.

Really? We didn't hit an all-time low with a cross-dressing luggage thief? A secretary of defense who disappeared for weeks at a time? Don't even get me started about Buttigieg's qualifications (or lack thereof.) C'mon man!

Also, I know it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that "the electorate deserves better." The well-kept secret is this: they really don't.

The "luggage thief" was a DoE official (not sure why the non-binary aspect was referenced in the description) and Pete Buttigieg is smarter and more compassionate than everyone in the current Executive Branch combined (that's only the slightest of exaggerations). He'd be twice the man and leader that the current president is. And "weeks at a time"? You mean while he was in the hospital for a few days and no one told the WH or the NSC? Yeah, I have to agree, that was bad. It wasn't a confirmation issue, though.

Buttigieg is very impressive as a speaker and South Bend made good economic progress while he was the mayor. RFK and Hegseth simply don't seem to be able to present any qualification for the positions they are seeking and holding respectively. Maybe it will work out, but starting without the experience and hard work needed certainly dims the prospect of a good outcome. If you just want a disruptor you still need someone who can do the job well, and there are plenty of Republicans who would be better options.

Being a good speaker isn't a qualification for much (maybe press sec.) And which Reps are you referring to? Neocons and establishment scumbags need not apply. (That goes for Dems, too.)
 
Wouldn't yall like to know who is really calling the shots within this government? I mean it's the same issue as with the Biden administration. I got news you for it isn't anyone going through a confirmation hearing...
 
Patel was deliberately lying through his teeth repeatedly yesterday direct;y contridicting what he had written in his own book. Unqualified AND unfit but will probably be confirmed by the republican sycophants anyway.

I have no idea if he's even proposed someone, I'm just pushing back on the silly notion that you have been suggesting that every single nominee trump has put forth is the worst ever and Biden only chose solid candidates. They both nominated some absolute idiots, and if you cannot take off your blinders for even half a second, I dunno why you even continue to 'discuss' these appointments.

Perhaps note the mention of South Bend and the economic progress made there?

Just enjoy your cabinet. We can review their accomplishments in four years. Perhaps it will be yugely successful.

Never said anything close to that. I dont remember specifically mentioning Bidens. Never said every single trump nomination. For example, Little Marco was certainly not in the same catagory. Specifically I was referring to Gaetz, Hegseth, Patel, Gabbard, Kennedy and maybe Bondi, in that order.

Regardless, Biden has some absolute idiots and crazies - while I agree trump's picks aren't all great, your post about trump hitting an 'all time low' is silly when presented with that clueless clown Biden wanted to run the FAA.

Both have made absolute clown picks that were chosen for things other than merit. Biden's cabinet was a clown show, trump's will just be a slightly different clown show.
