It looks to be a post-Alabama-commitment bump. He did not have any stars on 247 prior to Alabama commitment.

Quote:
"He had offers from South Florida, Mississippi State and Kentucky, among others. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Booker does not have a star ranking from 247Sports,"
That's not how the rankings work. They have re-evaluations throughout the process to re-rank. They are not going to change a players rankings hours after his commitment. Don't believe everything you read.

Signed and enrolled only means you have them for a few months before they can move on and we have had very few flip when they have been committed. Out of the 25 or so you sign every year only 6-7 will have a big impact on the program so keeping those guys is what is important as it has always been (players like Booker, Keenan, Roberts, Williams, Simpson, Proctor, Lawson, etc). I still remain interested in recruiting but have had to change my mindset somewhat based on the new world order of college athletics.
We still don't know about Simpson. May be great. May be an average game manager.

He must have moved to Gainesville, GA for NIL. He played at Sparkman, AL last year in his highlight video. BTW, he had 17 sacks and 29 TFL's last year and is quick and fast.
you don't go to gainesville, ga unless you have to. That's definitely not where the $$ is in GA.

Long before NIL, Alabama had no problems getting top in state DL to come on board.
How things have change. For the worse.
A lot of that had to do with the scheme we were running and the personnel group we used to fill it out. Our DL were basically all DT types, with a couple being a bit heavier and one being slightly smaller, but certainly not like a prototype DE that a lot of scheme use. That meant we just were not a fit for a lot of DE types who would have been too small for the DL role, but not really what we wanted from our OLB group (Jack and Sam) either.

In theory, the change to having two distinct edge types with one being a lot like the old OLB prototype and the other being more of a true DE should help us. Right now both positions are pretty loaded though so if someone is looking for early PT, it's going to be hard to come by.

Not sure I'm that area. But bear mcwhorter is likely next.

Bear announcing tomorrow. It looks like it is down to us and Michigan and I believe he will roll with the good guys. Saw his sophomore highlight tape at LT and he is physical and has a bit of a mean streak.
