Weird reading of cruel and unusual but okay.

According to that logic, no one can ever be deported since the government cannot guarantee their safety.
True enough, but if you send someone to a foreign prison, you have a certain obligation to ensure decent treatment--particularly when the person in question has not committed any crime in the country where the prison is located.

Yeah, to be clear, I'm against us shipping people to foreign prisons.

If they're criminals, remove them or jail them here. If the country they are sent to determines them to be criminal and dangerous, they can do what they wish - but paying a country to jail people for us is over the line, imo.

But again, if the agents and/or their families are being doxxed / threatened, what's the answer? As crazy as the fringe members of our society are, all it takes is one person seeing an agent's address to show up at their home with ill intent.
We say about about suspected criminals "if you haven't done anything wrong, why run or hide?" Seems to apply here.

Do we have any documented cases of ICE agents having their personal info disclosed ? Or is this another urban legend from Fox ?

I keep hearing that ICE is raiding places like Home Depot. Are they looking for shoppers or employees? If employees, aren't there laws that provide for fines and are they being used?

I'm not trying to be a rear-end, but that is a potential consequence of a person deciding to enter someone else's country illegally. It seems we are putting the entire responsibility and accountability on the country being violated rather than the person who committed the crime to begin with. Again, I'm not advocating going out of one's way to mistreat anyone. But our country carrying the entire burden of ensuring the person stays safe throughout the entire ordeal (even after he leaves our country) is going beyond the scope of our responsibility, in my opinion. Don't enter another country illegally.

My musings on immigration in three categories ...

What I think is easily agreed upon is to get rid of the violent criminals, gang members, drug traffickers, etc. And I don't care where they are sent, as long as it is out of here. We shouldn't spend taxpayer money imprisoning them here. I don't expend my empathy point on society's worst people.

A second group I would kick out quickly are the deadbeats. If you want to come here, one of the things you must have is a work ethic to be productive member of society. We have enough domestic-grown slugs; we don't need to import additional drains on society. One of the most hilarious things out of the illegal immigration mess is how sanctuary cities suddenly realized how expensive the parasites are when they actually had to coddle all the people they said should be coddled.

The largest group are those that are here working and trying to improve their lives. It doesn't make much sense to me to have a blanket eviction policy. The cost in man-hours and taxpayer money is too high to round up and kick out people who are net positives economically. We are only hurting ourselves. But, I don't like that our laws are violated when people break into the country. There must be a penalty to pay. My wife, her family, and her friends waited patiently for years to immigrate. If line jumping is overlooked, then it will effectively be encouraged. So, come up with some kind of fine and/or other penalties for those who are already here illegally but don't offer that remedy going forward. From now on, come here legally. And if your are productive and a good citizen, you can stay and be on your path to citizenship.

I think the issue is the contractors looking for undocumented laborers will go to Home Depot parking lot, and pick guys up for day labor, pay them in cash and avoid the paperwork.
Laborers get cash.
Contractors get cheap labor.

Agreed with your first two points, this one is a bit more complex. The reality - and we know this - is that many illegals will work for very low, even illegally low, wages. It's still more money than they can make where they came from, so they're happy - but this is where US citizens don't get work. While I'm aware most Americans don't want to be a roofer or work in the fields, there are those who will do so, but not for nothing - the wages have been kept artificially low due to the willingness of the illegals to work for less money. Simple supply and demand, and while yes, that means some of the things we enjoy will increase in cost - some somewhat dramatically, as labor is typically a large percentage of a cost of goods or services - the reality is the 'benefit' you or I get comes at the cost of reasonable wages for an American who won't climb on a hot roof for $10-15 per hour.

It's just not as cut-and-dried as [paraphrase] 'they work hard and (mostly) follow the rules, therefore they are a benefit'...

Farmers and contractors would challenge your assertion that American's are available to install roofs, landscape properties, construct houses, install countertops or even build appliances or a myriad of other task at any price. A good indicator of that would be to go out into a field and witness the pace of work required to gather vegetables or fruits like watermelon then find an American who would undertake that at any price.

Farming is a very tough business with low margins and all the profit is taken by the distributors and retailers like Walmart.

If the US fails to develop a program to support immigrant labor and continues to threaten immigrants the cost and availability of food will be the issue.

I'm not suggesting there's no need for H1Bs.

My point is there are a LOT of jobs where low-wage illegals are taking the place of higher-wage Americans.

And we all know what the purpose is for wanting their personal information public. It's violence, they want them and their families stalked, harrassed and I'm sure their property damaged.

I want to see what happens when they show up at an ICE agent's home in a "stand your ground" state. If the government is going to move slowly to protect these agents, don't be surprised when some of these wokesters wind up getting smoked on someone's front lawn. I won't cry for them, but I (unfortunately) know some who would.

Will you cry for the plainclothed and masked ICE agents who in their haste to deport brown people try to snatch up American citizens or legal non-citizens and receive a "stand your ground" bullet for their trouble?
