I am intrigued with the possibility. The North Carolina area has excellent recruiting and untapped markets for SEC media. Football, Basketball, Baseball are all competitive sport for the Tar Heels. I think they are a natural fit. What say you?
Having lived in NC for 15 years I can say that their arrogance is only barely superseded by Texas. They expect to win the BB national championship every year...and are delusional in how good they think their football teams have been. NC State is a much larger and healthier school...if we take UNC then we need to take NC State as well.I am intrigued with the possibility. Yeah, I remember going to some Bama bowl game against UNC in the 90's and their fans were a real shock to me. Country club outfit for sure. Culturally, not a fit for the SEC at all.Having lived in NC for 15 years I can say that their arrogance is only barely superseded by Texas. Well, we have three cow colleges....is there going to be a problem having two baby blue schools in the conference?
If awbern fits, everyone else does.Yeah, I remember going to some Bama bowl game against UNC in the 90's and their fans were a real shock to me. Country club outfit for sure. Culturally, not a fit for the SEC at all.
Not sure if that even matters to any decision makers anymore, though.
If we play the "culture" card, Texas and Mizzu would have never been a match!Yeah, I remember going to some Bama bowl game against UNC in the 90's and their fans were a real shock to me. Country club outfit for sure. Culturally, not a fit for the SEC at all.

Its a bunch of transplants from NJ/NY/New England folks now living in the Carolinas......hence their self superiority complex re: them being more cultured/erudite versus us perceived knuckle dragging natives of the southYeah, I remember going to some Bama bowl game against UNC in the 90's and their fans were a real shock to me. Jeesh, our academics score would exponentially increase with UNC, Duke, Virginia and Virginia TechIF the SEC expands again, I'd love to see it tap into the ACC, namely NC and Virginia.
It's been said that NC and Duke would likely both have to come if one did. It would make perfect sense if we went that route to add Virginia and Va. Tech and call it a day.
I admit I'd love to see this if for no other reason, but a selfish one. I'm 2.5 hours from Chapel Hill, Durham and Blacksburg and just about 4 from Charlottesville.
Most people think Virginia is a better candidate for the B1G, so we could just go all NC and add NC, Duke, NC State and Wake Forest.
Want to go real crazy, add Appalachian State University...![]()
What about Stanford? Or Cal?I would bet that if Carolina were to come, within five years the stadium would have to be expanded to circa 100,000 and basketball would decline. Can you imagine how many people would want to see Carolina hosting teams like Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, USC east?
The SEC needs to keep up with the growth of the Big 10 and those are the only ACC schools that match what the Big 10 has been doing.
Roll Tide!
Go Wahoos!
Go Heels!
From this SEC fan's perspective, no way. Couldn't care less about them, Duke, Wake or most of the rest of the ACC teams or their fortunes or outcomes. FSU, VT, NCST, & Clemson are the most "SEC-like" schools / teams that I would actually care about watching even while hoping they lost every game.
I understand why SEC accepted Missouri but they're still not "one of us" regardless of performances on the field or court. This affects / upsets the overall culture of the SEC. We don't need more of that.
