It sure feels to me that we are going to bear witness to the decline and eventual death of Western Civilization. I feel like this deserves its own thread to discuss the causes, symptoms and hopefully the restoration of it.

I don't know if I would call it declining as much as I would call it being redefined aka "changing". Just from my layman's observation of the world, it seems we have more people in the country that though came to this country to escape their home country, hate how things are done in this country and want to recreate the culture and country they left, here in the U.S. Make that make sense to me, LOL (????), but oh well. I think this is why we see as much political and social divide as we currently see in the country.
Then, you've got the ever-increasing gap between the rich and the middle class due to jobs being plucked out of this country and are now overseas, coupled with technological advancements in machinery, software, and now AI coming on the scene. You can also throw in there corporate greed and companies holding the majority of the money at the top of the organizational chart. There aren't as many people anymore who "have money" as they used to, as it pertains to the middle class.
I'm sure if I thought longer about it, I could add more things, but these are just what popped into my head immediately.
In addition, this "decline" didn't just start with any current or recently previous presidency. It's been on this path for literally decades.

If someone is posting on facebook, "The British government has allowed in too many illegal immigrants posing as 'asylum seekers,' and they are abusing the welfare system at tax-payer expense," that, I believe should be permissible.
If the are saying, "everyone should go out and murder an immigrant," that is not.
I suspect posting the former will still get you a visit from the police and maybe an arrest.
The fact that the police were dispatched to force a shopkeeper to remove a sign calling dirtbag thieves "scumbags" tells me all I need to know...
They are more worried about feelings than free speech, so they deserve whatever destruction awaits.

Surely to goodness there's a place for a party that won't go overboard coddling criminals and setting policy around the six-standard-deviation-from-the-mean outlier, but also won't quash debate and non-violent protest.
It seems the world sees only black and white, ones and zeroes, binary thinking. Any understanding of nuance and the importance of shades of gray is not just gone, but is perceived as a sign of mental and moral weakness.

I understand a legit shopper could be mistaken for a shoplifter on occasion, but if a shopkeeper has video or photo evidence of a shoplifter they should not post a hard copy of that evidence in their shop? Says the "Information Commissioner's Office?"
That strikes me as such a weird take.
