I loved the head of engineering who, when Rush told him they weren’t going to get the sub “classed,” got up from their lunch and walked out on the spot.

Probably the single best decision that guy made in his life.

Just finished the "Untamed" series on Netflix. About a murder in Yosemite National Park. 6 episodes. Very well done. Rosemarie De Witt was very good as Jill as was Lily Santiago, whom I've never seen before. Sam Neill is always worth a watch. Good stuff.

Did anyone here watch the 1st season of "Ballard"? I did and thought it was OK - got better towards the last few episodes as the supporting cast were developed.

I really liked Bosch. I would also like to see more seasons. Watched Ballard too and hope they bring it back for another season.

I just finished Department Q on Netflix. Nine one-hour episodes.
The actors were excellent (I especially liked Alexej Manvelov as Akram) I cared about the characters. The plot was interesting. I enjoyed that more then anything I have seen lately.
One caveat: the screen-writers love the f-bomb. In fact, they overuse it.
Still, I recommend the series if you like crime/sleuth shows.
They clearly set up a season 2.

We really enjoyed it too.
Most shows now make me feel like they over do the f word or that the rest of the country uses it a whole lot more than I realize.

We have family that live in southern England (Dept. Q is set in Scotland), and they confirm that the language many Brits are willing to use in public would make all but the most potty-mouthed Southerners blush.

That said, we enjoyed the show as well. The guy who played Akram was outstanding, and his backstory needs to be told in Season 2.

Given some of the sewage that flows out of Hollywood (not talking moral sewage, but repetitive, uncreative, thoughtless garbage, Flintstones Viva Rock Vegas, and Transformers XVII), this was refreshingly different.
 
Just watched the first episode of America's Team - The Gambler and His Cowboys on Netflix. Looks like a really interesting and entertaining Sports Documentary.

Death by Lightning on Netflix. Focuses on Pres HJames Garfied and Chales Guiteau (his assassin). It's pretty good--Michael Shannon as Garfield, Matthew Macfadyen as Guiteau, and Nick Offerman as Chester Arthur, all of whom do great work. Just four eps, so you can get through it pretty fast.

Then you have the new season of Thw Witcher, with Lesser Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill. Hemsworth is fine, but there is no chemistry whatsoever between him and the actress who plays Yennefer. Feels like a good chunk of the writers room has already checkeded out, and they're coasting.

It's depressing how people have normalized gutter language now. The concept of being respectful seems to be largely dead.

I have started watching Death by Lightning (on Netflix). Can't post the trailer due to language.
It is pretty good.
Interesting story (parallel lives of Garfield and his eventual assassin, Guiteau)
I appreciate the lengths to which the producers and director went to get the clothing right.
Language is harsh at times.
They took considerable liberties with the history to paint Garfield in the most favorable light (by early 21st century standards). Garfield met with a bunch of USCT veterans on his front porch and declared he was in favor of black men voting.
The problem is that black men were already voting. The Alabama Republican party consisted of almost nothing but black voters. It wasn't until later in the 1800s that the Democratic party was firmly ensconced that they proceeded to disfranchise black men across the South. Poll taxes, literacy tests, "the grandfather clause" were still mostly in the future in 1880.
Still the series shows in great detail the "sausage-making" process of politics in the 1880s.
