After watching some of this, it wasn't effort. It was hesitancy because we weren't prepared.

Maybe CKD was right about playing on our heels.

Wommack has some work to do!!!
Oh my gosh. I sat and watched this entire clip and absolutely feel sick after doing so. What is going on? This just confirms some worst fears and the reality that this may not be fixable. I'm just speechless after seeing this.

If you want to get a former player's on the field perspective during the game needs to listen to AJ McCarron on the McCready & Siskey show. What he had to say about the team will change your mind about not wanting to clean house. The things he saw on the sidelines, on the field and other "notes" he took during the game will give you a HUGE DOSE of reality where this program is and how far the quality of football has fallen. I can't post it here because of the language. But I recommend everyone to watch it.
Interesting listen. Thanks for sharing. That Siskey cat made it hard to get through. There was one person who had some value to add and that was AJ--who struggled to get some air time from Siskey.

Watching that:
- No one on defense knows how to leverage the football (keep things from getting outside)...except for Zabian Brown.

- Our D was completely not prepared. Its clear to see on tape.

- Two guys playing one responsibility....shows unpreparedness.

- Hubbard, leverage the ball, turn the ball back inside.

- We knew we were playing a running QB, but rush integrity was nonexistent.

- Our inside LB's never played downhill, flat footed all game.

- No gap integrity anywhere

- 17th play of the game.....LOAFING!!!!!

- We've got dudes but we play soft and try to scheme.

- Lots of plays, 3 guys going to the same gap....leaving another gap wide open.

- We have no idea how to attack blockers

- We didn't practice for a Malzahn offense.

- Their coaches saw all this live and adjusted accordingly and blew our doors off.

I think the answer is "yes" it is time to consider it. I don't see it happening during the season absent some gigantic, Mike Price-ish event. And I'm as disappointed as anyone, but honestly do not see anything like that coming from CKD.

The poor effort on Saturday, however, borders on unforgivable. I don't think it is the kind of thing that you "turn around" in a week or even a month. I'm not sure the head coach is capable of fixing the issue. It doesn't seem like he has the personality type to get the players to exert the necessary effort.

My prediction is that we will play better and mostly win at home. Road games are going to continue look like Vandy/Oklahoma/Michigan/FSU. Even at home teams with equivalent talent will have an excellent chance to beat us, and teams with less talent but better effort and scheme (yes, Vanderbilt) could pull off a win. As such, 7 wins is probably a ceiling.

That's not acceptable at Alabama and especially not at Alabama with the kind of talent we have (at least on paper) and the money that is being spent.

So yes, time to consider it. Hope I'm wrong. I'll come back in December and say I was wrong and apologize to CKD and the team if I am. In fact, I hope I have to.

Stuff like that in it of itself doesn’t bother me if your Play can not be criticized.

Smitty showed up to the SB looking like Prince with a matching leather carryall.
It's an interesting point, but I think this gets into a major area of concern in terms of the situation DeBoer finds himself in.

In his one truly great season at Washington (basically the sole basis for an enormous contract) he had a 23 year old 6 year senior QB. He had if I recall correctly, 9 other 6 year seniors. These guys were veterans, they were mostly 3 stars, they were somewhat self motivated and probably didn't need to be babysat nearly as much (even then they still played sloppy and nearly lost to inferior foes multiple times).

This goes double for NFL players, they're seasoned pros. In this case though, we're literally talking about an 18 year old, and a group of unmotivated and undisciplined players. You look for chances to chew kids like that out, to set them straight, to get through to them. You darn sure don't tolerate any nonsense because as you alluded to they haven't proven themselves, they haven't done anything yet, they are in fact losers.

Chris Stewart mentioned that DeBoer said they had guys back from last year that when things went south they had the mentality of "here we go again"

This was mentioned on The Dynasty Podcast

Yeah it was bad. I don't know if CKD needs to be fired or not right now, but there are some defensive coaches that ought to man up and resign. It was that bad.

Yep

That’s what I mean.

If your out there afraid to get hit and dropping easy catches and getting pushed around so your whole route gets eliminated you better show a different side for a bit.

Get a damn military cut and get to work.

Start projecting an all business image and get better at your role.

He’s supposed to be one of the better players and he’s regressed.

They all need to toughen up and get serious.

What does it take to get it across to these guys that yesterday and tomorrow mean nothing? Today is everything. What matters is what is right in front of you. This was the foundation of the Nick Saban Way. And frankly, it is the foundation of any team that wins championships in any sport.

I don't want to hear this from DeBoer. This is basic, entry level stuff. If guys are going "here we go again" then that is on YOU the head coach because you have not drilled it into them that all that matters is the drill/play/assignment/game right in front of your face. Maximum effort, circumstances be damned.

I think it's not the actual losing, but it's HOW we're losing that is the problem. If we were losing to the Ohio States, Texases, and Georgias of the world - while looking competitive, disciplined, and engaged - then we wouldn't be crashing out. We're losing to Vanderbilt, a gutted Michigan, and an FSU team with 50 new players all while looking like the Bad News Bears. That's the biggest problem.
That's actually a sign of improvement on their part. Especially after 2-10 season.

If he doesn't realize his seat is extra hot, he will after reading and watching all the news and fans. He better make some changes quick with his coordinators, and they better get it started yesterday! This staff lost me at Norman last year. I was wishing things would be different, but they may be what they are. KD has got to find a defensive coordinator that is more physical and aggressive. I didn't think FSU with 49 new players and all new coaches and coordinators would be that good that soon. We sure helped them and made it easy for them. We play dead on the road now. I haven't been this disappointed in a Bama team in a long while. And to think we had all this talent coming back and recruiting very well and a few NIL guys. Simply a unreal deal we have right now. Our DC needs help!! Sorry butbliving in Pensacola has been pure heck since Saturday. The cockroaches have come out of the woodwork....

Cole Cubelic made a great point today. Is it coaching? The Washington Kids ( Parker and Germie) play hard , grade out well , do their jobs .
This is an interesting thought. Almost like a child who has lived in a house with a strong disciplinarian all their lives and then goes on a wild steak once they go off to college. I wonder if CKD is dealing with that with the Saban players. They see "weakness" and are taking advantage of it.

This is what I can’t reconcile with all the opinions here.
This is interesting, maybe hopeful if not a reach. Possibly why we saw so much rotation with new guys, maybe more roster turnover needed than we can see. That might just be copium or coincidence, would be another year or two if this is any indication of his guys or not his guys, but can't imagine waiting for that at this pace
