Hmm... Do we now have a QB controversy?

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

It’s interesting how the coaching staff told Ty on Thursday that Mack would play in the second quarter. They were looking to get a competitive rise out of Simpson and they did.
You are correct. They were saying on the broadcast that they did the same thing to Jake Haener (it ticked Haener off) when they were at Fresno State and he went on to have a terrific season after that.

Not for number 1. Ty has solidified his starting position, as I see it. And he's only going to get better. Doesn't mean he'll always complete all his passes. Mack was 8 of 10, while Russell was 4 of 6. They all did well. But Ty looks more polished. I do think #2 is up for grabs. Both Mack and Russell could use more game experience. Mack knows the DeBoer/Grubb offense better, but Russell is catching on fast. I hope we do well enough against Wisky, so we can see both play some again.

brutally honest here, I just don’t see AM as the starter anytime soon. He is still very raw. I was impressed by the touch on the TE TD pass, and ball placement on the other TD . That said, he still lacks touch and struggles with ball placement most of the time. Plus, his scrambling is very awkward.

Mack has zero touch on his throws. I don't get why the staff is high on him. Keelon is clearly a step above the other 2 QBs from a talent perspective. But that doesn't mean he's ready to start. When he is ready to start look out

They are high on him because he has a huge advantage over nearly every quarterback in the country with his height. Also the fact this is year 3 for him in the DeBoer system. Grubb when he was here last season kinda hinted at that had Penix went down at Washington that they were considering Mack as his immediate replacement.

The talent is there but the experience and mechanics aren’t yet. But I’m telling you there is alot of loyalty over him to the point that they potentially sacrificed Sayin staying over it. I still think Sayin was gone anyways but that’s a different conversation

Great post 81. I think Mack is a team first guy and I’ll take those any day. RTR

I hope they're right about him and I'm wrong then lol.

Mack just needs more game experience. He did not play any at Washington. Last year he got his first playing time at Alabama, and finished 2-of-3 passing for 39 yards and a touchdown ... connected from 31 yards away for the score. And looked great against ULM. His 6'6" frame does make him appear awkward.
