Indoctrinated liberal adolescents are the new Westboro Baptist Church at the vigil for Charlie Kirk in Westerly, Rhode Island last week.

This is true, blind hatred & intolerance.

Holy crap, leftists like this really ARE the new Westboro. I hadn't thought of it this way until now. Actually, these people are worse than WBC because they like to destroy property and in some instances, personally assault people. This country is already a terrifying place; I can only imagine what it's going to look like in another 10 years.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. They accomplished their purpose, they made a spectacle of themselves and got their picture in the (virtual) paper.

They remind me of the first amendment “auditors”. They will stand outside a building with a camera filming it. When people that work there get concerned about some weirdo filming their building, they ask what they are doing and the camera person acts as weird or rude as possible. Some go in the post office and stand there with a camera. Or in the library or town hall.

They claim to be a journalist and they are engaging in protected first amendment activities and if you hate them you hate the constitution and if you don’t like being filmed you should stay home.

While what they are doing is legal, literally nobody was wanting to do this prior to the internet.

I would agree with you if these kids were showing up to the funerals of American servicemen and servicewomen with those signs.

While the signs are in poor taste, I've seen the Westboro folks up close. Those people are true evil.

I had the day off several years ago. Running an errand, i passed by a lady who had 3 kids with her, and they were holding hands. I thought, "Wow, it must be parent-teacher day at the local Catholic school".

On my way back, my 1st thought was not right. The Catholic school was adjacent to a Catholic church, and there were a lot of cars in the pking lot. And also a huge contingent of protesters from Westboro. And the lady was there with her kids.

I looked online and found that there was a funeral for a kid who was killed in Iraq.

They use their children as human shields. Nobody is going to take a stick to their head if kids are all around. That's the sickest part of Westboro.

I remember when Michael Sam was making headlines as the draft rapidly approached and hoping against hope that he would get picked up by Oakland. Just imagine the entertainment opportunity here: Westboro Baptist "Church" vs Raiders fans. That would be more entertaining than the game.

Best way to insult the dead:

Just go on with your life and say nothing at all.

IGNORING is the highest form of insult possible.

Westboro was (is??) slimy, evil and disgusting.

On the other hand - if the media had not tried to frame the killing of Matthew Shepard over DRUGS into "killed because he was gay," which wasn't true - nobody would have ever heard of Westboro.

They had been doing that same thing (protesting veteran funerals back during the Gulf War) for years. Yes - YEARS. It only became a big deal when it fit a media cookie cutter narrative "poor guy just living his life, killed because he was gay, and look at all these mean Christians" (which were nothing more for the most part than members of Fred Phelps's family).

And I shouldn't even have to say it but since we're in a post-Kirk America: "Of course I don't believe Matthew Shepard 'deserved' to get killed and particularly in the brutal way he did. Nobody deserves what happened to him.

I had never even heard of Westboro until they started protesting funerals of killed American servicemen and servicewomen.

So I call b.s. on people not paying attention to them until Matthew Shepard.

Just because that's when you heard of them in the War on Terror and Enduring Freedom, which were i 2004. But that doesn't mean they weren't well-known.

Respectfully, you can, but you're wrong.

Even the Wikipedia page (I know, I know) that is massively documented has pro-gay rights folks saying the same thing - that that's when they got NATIONAL attention. Now you may have heard of them if they protested a funeral locally (if you were living near Kansas, for example).

But yes, people knowing who they were NATIONALLY happened solely because they chose the high-profile case of Matthew Shepard, which the media was spinning with the same lack of intellect they'd used two years earlier to allege there was a bunch of church burnings going on in the south (most of which turned out to be arson and copycats).

Once upon a time their website had a picture of Shepard burning in Hell and pleading for everyone to "listen to Pastor Phelps!" It was horrid.

It's almost like you are giving them a Mulligan because Shepard "allegedly" was involved in drugs.

And you conveniently left out the passage in the Wikipedia article that said the reporting was somewhat unreliable, relying upon statements from witnesses who keep changing their story. An attempt to "de-gay" the murder.

That's gonna be a big coin - given the size of Charlie Kirk's head (literally and figuratively).

I know big heads. I require a 7 3/4 hat. :D
