Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. Vandy...

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I saw that , Ty was taking his helmet off slowly, then saw Williams down on himself on the bench and ran over to him. He Got in a Ryan’s face and smacked him on the helmet a couple of times. Probably saying like you said, it was on Ty and keep grinding. Don't won’t to lose Ryan mentality and Ty recognized that. Too bad TV cut away and didn't mention it.
LEADER!
Too busy talking about what a great leader Pavia is, maybe? Personally, to me he comes across as a self-absorbed smart - - -. Anybody who looks up to Johnny Manziel ( or however the hell it’s spelled) has questionable values to begin with. Just one old guy’s opinion.

-excellent in game and particularly halftime defensive adjustments by coach Wommack…..didn’t think he had it in him…..my bad coach

-Ty Simpson is a great field general

-Bama imposed its will on Vandy after the first qtr…..and the score isn’t indicative of the whooping that was administered by the good guys on the football field
Kudos for this game, but this game is the exception, not the rule in regards to his adjustments.

Although you might could argue that the team’s attitude has improved from last year and they actually listened to his coaching.

I dont think the defensive improvement came as much from adjustments as it was the players just deciding to step up their intensity and focus. I saw explosive DL play in tge second half that wasn't there in the first half.
James Smith played the second half. He obviously wasn’t happy with the Pavia chirping

after the game, he got in Pavia’s face and let him know of his dislike for the QB. He took it all personally . We need this chip on our shoulders, players with fire in their Belly.

And I was glad he did. I wasn't real pleased with a lot of the Bama players dapping up Pavia after the game. But I guess they proved their point on the field. Im glad several players like Smith made it a point to let Pavia know he got his butt owned.

The narrative now, starting with Booger, is that they didn’t play their game.
Booger. Why didn't vandy play " their" game? Could it have anything to do with the Bama defense? Forcing two red zone turnovers? The defense finally getting their heads right and fitting the run gaps? Let's not get it twisted here you lsu fluffed, if not for one bad read by Ty to start the game and one brain fart by a db, Vanderbilt only scores 7 and Bama has another td.

Back-to-back top 20 wins and our reward is top 20 games in four of the next five. Sitting at 4-1 at this point in the season is probably where most of us were thinking, and we are playing at a top 10 level, but I am not comfortable with the prospects of us making the playoffs. With that said, we are sitting as well as anyone else in the conference to do so. It's just crazy how much parity there is in the SEC.

The DL and lb play was the best I've seen all season. They played with lots of fire , but and a very important BUT, they played under control. Frankly, it was vandy who lost their cool and refs penalized them accordingly.

Booger is right...they didn't play their game because we would not let them. Take out the 2 running plays in the 1st half and they had no running game. The shovel pass worked for a while, but we caught on to that.

The team that I believe is the best in the SEC at the moment is TxA&M. Their defense is really tough and their offense is coming around...particularly their run game. MSU is an average SEC team and they were beaten up last night.

Due to travel I was unable to watch the game, but after hearing that Diego Poverty practiced taking a victory snap knee during warmups I’m SO HAPPY the Tide Rolled that French-shower bag…

RTR
He was largely ineffective and personally accounted for two red zone turnovers, both of which were caused by the defense making plays on the ball.

Yeah, well Booger needs to understand that Bama didn’t play their game either. First turnover of the year, attempted 3 field goals, didn’t convert on 3rd down like we should have. Had Bama played their game, it would have been 45-14

But, they barely beat a bad Barn team??

MSU kept it close for most of the game and just kind of lost their way. Did the same against UT at home last week late. Texas A&M is good but MSU is pretty good team also. Tex A&M QB is dynamic but has some major flaws also.

Would really like to know what technical adjustments to the D were made at halftime. Obviously had to be something to affect the Vandy run game. Because the LB run fits have been so woeful, perhaps something to do with that?
McElroy addressed the run fits during the broadcast and showed where it was the DB's who were missing the gaps on most of the big plays.

The very young often behave in a very young manner...

Well it’s also that they have never been here before. I’m reminded that one of my worst experiences at a ball game was in 2016 vs Ole Miss. Their fans were absolutely trash that day. But everyone I seem to tell that to seems shocked because they have all had great interactions with Ole Miss fans. But 2013-16 was heights that Ole Miss had not seen in some time.

I compare Vandy now with Tennessee baseball fans. They take after their hero (in Tennessee’s case Vitallo) because they have been a doormat for so long
